As for your personal issues with dealing with the MSA;

Personal Record Card
- if it went to the MSA as part of an upgrade then I don't think you get it back
- if you want a new blank one then my experience is a quick turn around following a phone call asking for one

Marshalling Abroad
- what do you expect the MSA to do for you in terms helping you in marshalling abroad? You request the covering letter from the MSA which says you are a registered marshal ..... then you sort yourself out with the circuit/club/travel/accomodation/insurance (travel and to cover marshalling)/etc

Dave
My thoughts entirely

Now here's a funny thing. . .

Kaybee & I sent our forms in the same envelope. I've had an email acknowledging receipt, she hasn't.

So, what's happened:

a) The MSA can only cope with one form per envelope, so they've thrown hers away.

b) They know that only one email was necessary as it stands to reason that if one's arrived they both have.

c) The envelope was opened by person or persons unknown & her form stolen to use in the perpetration of identity theft.

d) The email address on her form was illegible.

e) Her application has been rejected.

Of the above, I think d) is the most likely!

Ok got my reg form back saying that I am only registered as a rally marshal.

Now I have got to send them back a photo copy of the Incident Officer and Registered Buddy Registration Card they issued me this year!!!!!!!!!!

Covering letter a little blunt.

Posted mine off 1st class yesterday afternoon. got the email back this afternoon.

I wonder if they have noticed that the photo I sent in was the one off my 2001 Marshal Licence - and that had been recycled off a Nat B Race Licence from 1992 - I almost had hair (and a strange caterpillar lurking on my upper lip!)

I have to so careful when recycling photos, I had a great idea when last renewing my passport, they get so weepy about pulling the correct miserable face, correct background, right size, looking exactly the right direction, no glasses blah blah, so I decided that because it was only a head shot that I would have my photo taken whilst dressed only in my pants.
It does give a lovely sense of irony to the situation and also a nice two fingers when being looked down the nose at by customs (you enjoying that picture of me in my pants mate?) BUT I must make sure that I don't use the same photo for any other purpose.

Just a thought, I sent my form & photo back last weekend and not had any e-mail or contact to say they received it. Worth giving them a call to enquire yet????

Or are they not contacting everyone?

Check your junk mail first - the sender only came up as "administrator" to my address.

Was your email address written so as it could be read by someone that might not have a clue as to what it's meant to say?
Although my email is lower case I wrote it in upper case on the form for easy reading and yes I got the email!!
Just a thought!!

Received a phone call from the MSA on Friday regarding a small query. The gentleman who I spoke to was so helpful and obliging.

My experience is to give this particular gent ten out of ten. I have also sent a letter of thanks as call-centre operators do not receive congratulations very often. So nice to receive good service on a par with that I receive from the BRSCC and BMRMC etc

fair enough but what i always try to do is at the beginning of the year if i know how many meetings i will do till my next training day the following year i will get the correct amount of books from the trainer.

saying that though i did ring up for an msa card holder thing (because all i have is one from work that only holds 1), thought i explained what i needed, stating its the plastic card holder to stick on the end of a lanyard for admission cards and got sent the black insurance liveried wallet, never mind i got it within a week which i was happy with

all my upgrade cards ive always had back and they just cross out the ten/15 (or in rally 5) signatures attained at the preceeding grade, i was at a training day where i seen adrian s retain a grade on the day i believe noticed some sigs were crossed out and was confident that id get the card back once finished.

as with marshalling abroad its a shame they havent got a list of organising clubs/chief m's to contact of ALL big meetings in the world or at least europe, i am trying to find different clubs (as ive already tried going through the promoters) to marshal at trophee andros (ive already been advised on tenths to some extent) and ROC (havent tried with ROC yet which i know will be hard)

as with sorting everything out, travels taken care of, my car... for the 10 or so trips abroad i hope i can do next year (even more than that if it goes easy enough), acommodation tent (chalet obviously for andros but im yet to book), insurance, year round.

i just need the club and the tickets bringing through, i would even send a self addressed envelope if they were so bothered most arent luckily it wont be any trouble to have me onboard as long as i dont have to pay admission its so frustrating not to be directed straight through to the right person even when i turn to the promoters, i even speak a hefty bit of french and whether im saying can i marshal trophee andros or something they find amusing i can never get a definative yes you can marshal the event and tickets are coming through...

When I was interested in marshalling the Canadian GP for the first time, I phoned the MSA. They sent me the forms required plus they phoned me with the Canadian ASN details and a name to speak to!
Really couldnt have asked for more
