Not so sure of the meat of this. Just got through listening to Hindy on the Midweek and there is a rumor of Ron Dennis buying Prodrive to field a "B" team for McLaren/ Merc. If this were to come about where would that leave the rest of the projects(divisions)? V8 Supercars was good, Subaru stank last year and all the uncertainty surrounding AMR with the sale of Astin Martin. And yes I know they ( AM / AMR ) or totally seperate entities. Will prodrive stay whole? Will the non performing pieces be let go? If the association with Astin Martin is disolved is there a builder of the caliber of Prodrive to fill that void in Sports Cars? DBR9, DBRS9, V8 Vantage N24.... I know it is only a possibility and somewhat early as the cars do have a lifespan yet, but it would mean the loss of a Marque!
Also the hints of rumored AMR announcements at the Paul Ricard testing days the on 9th & 10th!?? L.P. |

I wouldnt want Ron Dennis getting his hands on Prodrive !!!
But he was behind the McLaren F1 sportscar program . But as we know , F1 eats money big time . |

David Richards selling Pordrive? I very much doubt that will happen any time soon. All Dennis would need to do to create a McLaren B team at Prodrive would be to sell the team McLaren chassis and Mercedes engines at a slight discount. I really can't see this being any more than a rumour and I really hope that its just a rumour.

Aren't Prodrive down to run second-hand McLarens in F1 in 2008 anyway?

It sounds unlikely to me, I see the rumours cames from Germany according to PaddockTalk. Does that mean Bild?
Even if it was true, I wouldn't worry about Prodrive, he won't be buying it all I suspect and it is succesful. In addition there is no worries on the F1 eating money. McLaren are in great financial shape and, according to Autosport a couple of weeks ago. Quote:

Aston Martin Racing are testing at Paul Ricard today and tomorrow. The following drivers are/will be present: Johnny Herbert Richard Rydell Darren Turner Olivier Panis Allan Simonsen Casper Elgaard There is a strong hint that there will be other drivers involved in the test but George Howard-Chappell would not divulge who. He also stressed that the we should not assume that any of those present at the test were necessarily confirmed to drive for Aston Martin Racing this year. |

Just read that. It is an interesting list (Johnny!), but who are these others?

Darren Turner is doing the full BTCC season. So he can perhaps only do Le Mans.
I prefer seeing Casper Elgaard in a Zytek. |

Perhaps Darren Turner is there to provide a reference point.
With Aston being sold it was probably obvious that no real plans would be formed until after the sale, so perhaps this is an indication that the new owners are serious about racing - perhaps there is more to come on this story as has been hinted on LMSR for a week or two |

With Aston Martin Racing not showing up on the LMS entry list, I assume this might be a good sign that Aston Martin Racing could return to the ALMS?

either that or just not entering as factory team and only helping the semi-works teams.
With drivers from those teams running a works car at Le Mans. |

Well, there is Aston Martin Racing Larbre on the LMS entry list, so it's looking like they're only supporting the customers, apart from LM.

Well it does not look promising for AMR GT-1! Prodrive gone, BMS buying 2 Porsche 997 RSR's and rumored for a Spyder next year and only having drivers announced for 1 DBR9, Larbre ?, if they get whomped this year because of no AMR participation in their program who knows what they will be in next year. Ties to Porsche,Viper maybe a Oreca built Saleen? L.P. |

The team is now called "Aston Martin Larbre Racing" and is also predominently green , so that would suggest to me at least a little works help .
They were never called Ferrari Larbre Racing or Porsche Larbre Racing , and were never green brfore either . Makes sense to me anyway . |

BMS has also the AM prefix and they are (changed to) green and they have factory support. BTW they trained at Paul Ricard with the rest of the Astons. And no, Prodrive will not do ALMS, not even Sebring.
