I've just got back from a weekend away and thought I'd check the thread. ... I nearly fell off my chair when I re-read my last post. Sorry for any offence.

But Oulton now says it's full so it may not now get to "stretch" (phew!) it's legs. Just because I can't get a yes or no on having the day off. Anyway, if i get the day off but can't go on track I'll still get over there to watch.

Check with MSV tomorrow as I would be surprised if it's full?

Thanks Stephen, I will do. Be a shame not to get on if I've an opportunity.
I just had another look at Oulton's booking page on the website and it's saying "This event is fully booked" .
I may send them an email, as suggested, to get on the reserve list.

Ok the Oulton Park list has been extended so you should not have any trouble booking now. Please let me know if there are any other problems.

I've now booked in without any hiccups.
Many thanks again Stephen.
I can't wait now. That's my Christmas present to myself sorted.

The plan for Oulton as far as Xero competition are concerned:
Once again Mike newton's Falcon will be there, this gets better as it now boasts a new 640bhp engine and 6speed sequential G/box with flat shift as well a a full rebuild since any of you last rode in it. should be awesome.

We also intend to bring:
A radical SR3
of course DB's AWESOME A40!
Possibly our GT2 Corvette
Possibly the ex brit GT Holden monaro
possibly one of our Lexus BTCC cars

The "possibly"s are dependant on them being ready and their owners being available to drive.

but i would bet on the corvette being there at least.

look forward to seeing your grins once again guys and gals.

Guys, we are limited to TWO hot lap cars per track day and that would have to be arranged through myself. Sorry, these limitations have been imposed by MSV.

if i had to choose 2 of those, i'd pick the radical and the falcon <hint> <hint>

think i can understand why the limitation, with too many "fast" cars the point of the day is lost a little, and makes a safe driving environment a lot harder to maintain. When my 106 is going flat out down Island (ha ha!) with nothing behind it, then 3 seconds later has a bright white F360 full in its mirrors, you realise how alert and focused you have to be.

2 might be a little too restrictive IMHO, but hell we're getting a free track day so i'm not going to complain

Done, the mighty Focus deisesel will once more be making its erratic way round Oulton, did consider bringing the Landy, but perhaps not!

With regards to the 2 hot lap cars per track day I'm quite happy not to take my mighty clio on the track and change my booked in car to one of the above if thats allowed?

If you're doing that, I could book in with another of the above I suppose...?

But I assume that if you book in with the car, you'd have to be doing all the driving, and since part of the draw of the hot laps is that you're with a professional driver, it wouldn't be the same for the passengers.

What if we sign up every hot lap driver as a marshal prior to the track day. That way they could bring their own car and as a marshal drive it on the track with passengers. Wouldn't take too much to sort this out and it would be a way around the 2 hot lap cars per circuit! Have a think about it!

Ah! my Astra Diesel will have some company chugging around then!!!

I was begining to think with most of the cars mentioned on here that I would spend most of the day over to the right with my indicator on!!!

I think the issue might be the speed differential between amateurs and 'professionals' on track. The professionals might know how to get out of the ay of the amateurs, but would the amateurs realise this and stay on the line they're on, or would they try to jump out of the way and cause an accident.

Good point. Is the day run in sessions or is it open pits? if sessions, you could have a professional session for the hot laps and an amateur session for the general toodlers.

Mike Newton is still a member of the BMMC (Red Badge) so if we can persuade Tommy Erdos to join??????? Anyway if Mike uses his Volvo again that theoretically is not a 'hot' car (unless you have just been blown off by it).

The last 2 years at Oulton has been run as open pit line. As far as I know, and I have attended both we have never had a problem with the difference in speed between the pros and us "normal" people.

It will be a shame to have only 2 hot cars when the drivers are willing to bring other cars so everyone gets a turn and the ride waiting time is short.

I've done about 60 track days and have only ever had one incident involving a 'race car' where a 'race driver' was showing passengers how fast his BTTC Vectra was - unfortunately the 60 or so other cars on the track didn't move out of his way (or stick to the lines) as he was expecting and lots of complaints were sent his way after the session.

Didn't see him out in the afternoon sessions strangely.

Does that mean 2 in total or only 2 on track at any one time?

We just like the idea of the opportunity to say thankyou aswell.
