Because we're joined at the hip with the VSR's - it's on the road course.

We are discussing using the Mallory Mile for next season, plus other options.

The PuT do periodic courses at Rockingham, I would advise calling SHP on 01353861168, I believe it is the same licence for PuT and V8's.

Thank you for your positive outlook.

At Lydden, there are 7 V8's confirmed, with a possibility that it may become 9, but the other two are down to their owners having time to get them prepared. Like me, they have other fish to fry (work!), and that has to come first.

I have had someone ask me to supply/run a car for them - someone from outside of the series who has been waiting to try one on a road course for a few years!

We have lost a few people who did not want to do road courses at all, one of whom may be swayed if we can get some oval (either Rockingham, or Mallory Mile) dates for next season.

You could say that we're starting from scratch now. Our series co-ordinator is brimming with enthusiasm for the first time in a couple of years. People like Colin White are absolutely full of it! Colin is aiming to have two of his cars out at Lydden, with a third ready for Brands, and hopefully his fourth before Snetterton. He has drivers interested.

It's a shame that our French friends are full of it, otherwise there was a good chance that we could have done something together. Kelv and Sam know all about that!!

There's soooo much interest in NASCAR from a spectator aspect in the UK and Europe, yet sod all interest at a "race championship" level to make it happen properly.

I've been looking at both the Mexican and the Canadian "NASCAR" championships to see how they're going, and they seem to be picking up now that Mr France's influence is behind them.

There could be a decent late model series in Europe if people all sat down round a table and sorted it out with decent promotion, PR, realistic costs (More CAMSO than ASCAR) proper cars (NASCAR Weekly or Late /Super Late Model) and visiting proper tracks, Mallory Mile, Warneton, Lydden. And people could work together to find new potential venues (theres some great development land round calais...)

But to be accepted by the establishment, it needs to be a "dual mode" series - like NASCAR, and do road courses as well as ovals. Short (0.5mile) and big ovals.

It needs to be road course based, with excursions to ovals, building up the oval experience.

It'll take a lot of building, but it needs to be right first time, which is why Late Model/ Super Late Model isn't any good to us - it's an oval only formula. ASCAR for it's sins and shortcomings, is multi-format capable - one chassis for both oval and road course.

It's the closest thing to CoT we've got without the freaky bodywork - though that could be arranged with a spot of composite bodywork moulding.

You know I'm right.

The non-short oval racing establishment.

Don't forget, that to some, short oval racers are considered as one step down from pikeys!!!

Yup - I'm with Kelv - who cares about the motor racing establishment - its well catered for. Lates/Super Lates are what would work - oval cars on oval cars. Not oval cars that sort of can be made to work on road courses but are rubbish compared to compared to proper road racers.

rob,

i applaud the efforts to keep the ascars alive BUT the one thing that worries me about a multi format series is the fact that you're already experiencing delays in getting cars to the grid because of the need to "roadify" the oval cars. what happens when you have to go back and forth. it's no problem with nascar, they'll have separate cars but i'm sure that option will be above the budget figures that you'll be setting yourselves.

Totally agree most people who slag it off have never watched or done it.

I also agree that a decent oval formula needs to be created.

May I suggest that some already exist - the NHRPA could sort of be Formula 2 to CAMSO V8's F1. 2ltrs's being F3. What all those series need is a proper integrated PR campaign, not run by a 'pro' agency like Motion Works or RSM but by someone who actually understands oval racing and its potential markets. Oval racing is the peoples motorsport. I believe that the three series mentioned have the potential to rival DTM for spectator numbers but they need a proper five to ten year plan, they need to work together and I just don't think the people in charge of the series truly understand what they could be.

As for ASCAR, give up on it - its dead, its an ex race series. Rob give in - get yourself a real NASCAR and come do CAMSO. (I'm grumpy cos I can't drive on Friday)
