Probably because they are the official bank of GARRA - don't they also insure many of the Grand Am cars?

...sorry i asked!
I understand (maybe incorrectly) that LG really recieved no factory support and Lou sold lots of stuff to make this work. one would think, with the current condition of GT1, that GM would be interested in supporting a GT2 car. would be a damn shame not to see that car again. it was gaining pace at every race, and would definetly be challenging for some wins, given a little bit of cash, i reckon. so, what exactly will it take to get them at PLM? someone writing a check? i think i got 50 bucks i can throw at them. someone want to start a fundraiser? |

I heard rumors that Lou had been hemoraging money from his company to pay for the race team, but it's totally unsubstantiated.

Lack of support from GM is disappointing, although if the rumours of a factory GT2 effort next year are to believed it would explain this. GM should at least offer some support, they're not in the category yet and I can't see why the factory and all their resources would feel threatened by LG and his team. They should support Lou in some way because it would be good PR for GM and Lou has a lot of support from the Corvette community in the U.S so it would be a win/win for everyone.

I agree with the rest of your thoughts, that they should support Lou and Riley in the project. But alas, it will not come to pass. L.P. Last edited by HORNDAWG; 29 Aug 2008 at 04:19. |

Anybody think somebody at GM felt a GT2 program was in the offing and behind the scenes and LG/Riley's backs? Know it seems underhanded but with the rumors of a PM GT2 product would GM really want a factory and semi-factory competing with each other?

Yes you were right, I forgot that GM had pulled the plug on supporting the team long before any of these GT2 rumours surfaced.I am VERY disappointed of what GM have done to Lou and his team especially seeing how much Lou has had to sacrifice to get into ALMS. One would think that ongoing support in one way or another (at least until the factory team step into GT2 (if that happens) would be the right thing to do. Nothing wrong with keeping a presence in both GT classes even if it isn't a factory effort. |
