Not sure that the "present / future" ad is proof of anything.
That is, unless "present" is Porsche racing the 918 in GTE - which if it is, I'm not aware of which series they do so in? |

Considering the effort it takes to bring a production vehicle to market, you can bet Porsche is already deep into development of said mid engined F488, NSX, GT competitor. That's most likely a "baby" 918.

Honestly I just want Super GT500 in WEC. That would be brutal.

The Ferrari 458 and Aston Martin both use aluminum tub is I'm not mistaken, and the new Ford GT will use a carbon tub from what I've read.

Rule was changed in 2011 iirc to try get McLaren in (the 12C GT3 was originally planned as a GT2).

They are also on record as stating that they would not invest in a new race engine until the new technical regulations were in place. Now that they are, I don't believe the 9A1 engine is the answer for GTE / GTP racing. I thinks it's going to be the 960! |

So what do we know about next year in GTE/GTLM/"GTP"
Ford: already testing '16 spec car for WEC and TUSCC Corvette: Confirmed of having new C7.R for '16 Ferrari: Rumoured to be already testing 488 GTE Aston Martin: Hindy for RLM mentioned that he had seen the '16 Aston and noted that he liked how the cars were going back to looking more production spec. (im not 100% sure if I am remembering this correctly) Porsche: Have been pretty quiet, I cant say I have heard anything... BMW: Have a GTE and GT3 spec Z4 and are creating a GT3 spec M6 for '16. However will they build a GTE, (the Z4 isnt a true GTE just an upgraded GT3 so will they do the same with the M6?) McLaren: Have the new 650S GT3 and have stated in the past they want a return to Le Mans. Could there be a GTE version of the 650S in the pipeline or are they too busy with F1 woes? Bentley: Also stated a desire to return to Le Mans and have GT3 spec continental, however latest talk is they want to be fighting for overall wins and with 2 other VAG brands at Le Mans, noises suggest a DP/P2 in the TUSCC. |

Some rumors say that BMW and Bentley will be in TUSC with M6 and Continental both modified to GTLM and some rumors say like Porsche will be racing with the new 960 too .

960/961 doesn't exist, that rumor has been around for the last couple years and nothing has come of it.

I've read somewhere that bmw is developing the M6 gt3 that will be the base for the next GTE, aston martin will update the car but will remain with the same vantage platform for both gte and gt3 cars... maybe they will switch for something else in 2017 or later when they'll start on using AMG engines.
Hope for a GTE version of the 650S and that bentley will enter in P2 in TUSC... to me, the continental simply doesn't fit GTE. |

Aston Martin confirmed ages ago that they will continue to use the same ancient ("updated" 2007/2008?) chassis and engine until 2018 starts. Only mod they will do for next year is the mandatory roof update and other cosmetics

Though with what the ACO wants to do with GTE I suspect the car will be "broke" very soon. But sofar it's done them very well, so I see no reason why they can't achieve the ACO's performance goals with an update to the car. However, it being possible is one thing. Them achieving it is QUITE another. |

As much as I love Aston, I'd be shocked to see those Vantages running at the same pace as the Ford GT and 488.
I've been a motorsport fan all my life, and although I've taken an interest in the more technical side in recent years I'm only just getting my head around the GT3 vs GTE setups. As a layman, or a more casual follower it must be hard to understand why the Bentleys aren't allowed to race at LM when in reality they look like they belong in the same class. Why are GTE cars so much more expensive that GT3? |
