Missing the Proton GTE entry which is in the works and one more GTD Porsche entry which I can't say anything else about.

The Daytona entry list should be pretty solid because it's Daytona. I'm a little more nervous about the middle of the season.. but hopefully they can stay healthy.

The GTD entry list for the season isn't healthy, IMO, even though it should be good enough for an entertaining season. It's definitely not very robust and the biggest endurance races in North America deserve better.

Daytona has traditionally only had one support race. The Ferrari Challenge cars ran the last 2 years but before that it was just Conti and before that Motorola, Firehawk and whichever series those replaced leading up to CTSC.

Sebring on the other hand has been knocking support races off seemingly every year, with just 4 running last year. In the past 15 years or so we've seen Pirelli World Challenge, Formula Atlantic, F2000, Star Mazda, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Historic Trans Am, Spec Miata, Skip Barber Formula cars, Panoz series and probably some I'm forgetting come and go from the Sebring schedule so now it's just IMSA Lites, Conti, Porsche Cup, and HSR.

As mentioned elsewhere, Ford will bring 4 cars to the party! Time for others (GM? Ferrari? Porsche?) to up their game as well.

Also hoping Rebellion will send one of their new Oreca 07s over for the 36H of FL.

Plus a couple of potential entries appearing here (Ebimotors and Land Motorsport, both in GTD):

Could be a really good GTD entry for Daytona. A Rebellion in P class would be fantastic for both the grid depth and prestige of the event.

Oh boo. Do you know if that little section of grandstand (or any if changed) is open to public for a visit at all like it used to be, test or no test? Whoever you talked to might not have had a clue if they were just thinking about tickets to an event.

It's possible he didn't know what he was talking about, as that HAS happened before, but I did specifically ask if part of the stands would be open and he said no.

Since they rebuilt the stands they are farther away from the ticket building and you can't access them from the front by the fence anymore, you have to go in from the side which I'm sure they can fence off.

Either way I still plan on going up there just to see what's going on since I'm pretty close and have the day off Tuesday, and at the very least Ill take the track tour to catch a glimpse of the test activities.

A year ago I was bragging that the 2016 Daytona 24 will have the best GT field in North American sportscar history. I think the 2017 field is going to be even better. GT racing in IMSA is very healthy for the most part. Not without its flaws obviously. I think the gold/silver driver rating system for GTD needs serious revisions by 2018.

Going by Conner Di Phillipi's Instagram Land Motorsport will be at the Daytona test with their Audi R8 so this bodes well for a 24hr entry. First Frikadelli now these guys. Good to see

'Too long a drive (FtL) fer me if I can't watch like I used to. I was planning on shootin' up if I could (watch) but, oh well....ROAR or Sebring test will hafta do. I don't bother with the races anymore as I just don't like the cars (or the sporting rules).
