Its good to have final conformation of the new Audi.
Also looks like ORECA could be Audis LMES representative. Don't forget 2005 is also likely to be the last year of the DTM, at least at its current level, so there will be a number of teams/drivers freed up for 2006! Last edited by JAG; 25 Nov 2004 at 14:10. |

Good news, breathing life into the new era of LMP1 cars. hopefully this will kick start some other big name makers into action.
Have we been thru the normal bust cycle already, and are on the verge of a new boom? FIA GT's are looking good (providing the MC12 is kept in check) LMP2 is on a the upswing. Just got to get the DP teams in the US to see sence and the world will be a happy place. |

Ok, so Audi have confirmed that they are going to be building the R9/10 there is no great suprise there then. But it is very good news lets just hope that another big builds an LM1 car to race againest it - Porsche?
TBH I am not that suprised that McNish is off to the DTM, I would expect to see him at Le Mans next year. It will be interesting to see who runs the R8's next year. |

Audi has confirmed 3 works driver: Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner. So this means at least 2 cars.
Audi USA and Audi France plan to participate in ALMS, LMES and 24LM. The resulting commitment will heavily depend on budget. So we could see 1 or 2 R8s in ALMS and 0, 1 or 2 R8s in LMES. |

Hasn't Johnny Herbert pretty much committed to Champion too? So we'll likely see Lehto/Werner and Herbert/A. N. Other in the ALMS.

Champion previously confirmed two cars for 04'. It was part of their gentleman's agreement.

As stated previously Pirro is intent on racing in the U.S., so for Champion, Lehto/Werner and Herbert/Pirro?
That would leave whatever team(s) in LMES with Biela and perhaps a new/young driver? |

is this an attempt to make the French fans love the R8?
It has dominated Le Mans in years when Pesca and Oreca have built cars that could have won in the absence of the Audi, so perhaps this is a reward (in Audi's view) to the French fans for their patience... |
