It's good news, but mostly bad news time I'm afreaid. I've eventually managed to speak with the TV company.
Good News :
It is being shown sometime between 6.30pm and 7.30pm Friday 27th January on S4C Digital Channel 151. The programme is called UNED 5
Bad News :
It isn't coverage of the race meeting as such. It is only a five minute feature about "our presenters went to Trac Mon before Christmas and this is their report" kind of thing. They had enough crew there to have done a remake of Ben Hur

Possible Good News :
There will probably be a DVD available at some stage. All they suggest is keep checking their website www.antena.co.uk for info as to when / if it will be available.

However, a Formula Ford driver's son has compiled a DVD of the Absolute Media FF1600 races, which is quite good. PM me if you want contact details.

It'd be worth a few clubs getting together to pay someone like Motorsport UK to film all their races for Motors TV.... they are suprisingly cheap!

The point is both this meeting and WHT we were promised a TV slot (I did WHT but not this one but was tempted to do it with the TV deal) and as I have had happen in the past it has not materialised.

I think the guys putting these on would do well to check their facts first as I think it is just a wee bit misrepresentational. Imagine for a moment if I had managed to secure sponsorship for the day on the promise of TV coverage no doubt my client would be most unhappy and may want me to refund him and sooner or later someone will be seeking some form of retribution so be careful you guys before making offers you cannot keep as you are leaving yourselves wide open to a whole lot of agg.

Most of the time I enjoy - for want of a better term - organising motor sport. Occasionally I wonder just why on earth I bother, is it worth all the hassle etc.? This is precisely one of those occasions.
I'm now in a very

Cheer up. For all the failure on the part of the TV people (no real change there, in my experience) people who were actually at the meeting have universally given it a big thumbs up. Good job done, satisfaction all around.

Agreed...Diz, the weekend was a success from my point of view. For me, it's only a disapointment that this isn't going to be televised as expected.

Now don't be silly guys of course it was a good deal and there was no need to 'promise' TV coverage the simple point is if it is not actually confirmed than dont state it in the first place and no one would be disappointed. It is extremelly hard to find any form of sponsorship these days without the god of television coverage so all I am saying is by confirming it is gonna happen when you are after entrants is not on because some may well have entered that meeting on that premise and may have found someone to help them out financially as they thought they may have a good chance of a bit of advertising. And yes as I said I was contemplating entering as I did WHT as I was attracted by the TV promise and a bit of coverage for my business, is that so wrong to be disappointed when it does not happen.

The lure of TV was not the reason I entered and it was a great weekend and well organized, diz did a cracking job. I just think promotion at club level is so poor, its pitiful really. My comments were made in response to S4C not bothering to do anything with the coverage it had, i think its pretty much symptomatic of most of the medias thoughts towards club racing.

I did actually get a sponsor to cough up for the weekend and used TV coverage as a lure, luckily they don't speak welsh and I told them it was on before xmas whilst they were on holiday!

You got lucky then, what would have happened if he demanded his money back? At worst you would have to morally and prehaps lawfully refund him, at best you would loose a future prospective sponsor for ever who would also be lost to motorsport. I have seen sponsors treated this way in the past and they don't come back, no wonder no one can get sponsorship. I will repeat it is no critisism of the meeting or its organisation which was obviously great just the lily did not need guilding prehaps.

Be that as it may (jury still out?) and I sincerely hope there is but there was none as definitely promised at the WHT for the saloon and sports racers and lets face it they are a darn sight more interesting (IMHO) than a load of FF's.

I guess it's the organisers being let down as much as the racers - neither were ripping us off and were just trying to put on great racing (for drivers and spectators)- perhaps they just have to be less trusting and say "there MAYBE T.V. coverage". Even without it, the WHT was another highlight of my year.

BTW to get on telly you'd actually have to make it to the race

You are of course right but I still nevertheless entered and made the effort just the clutch let me down but I think that was irrelevant really as the intention was to race (in front of the cameras or not).
