It is hard to take peak speed values with a radar. If anyone was braking a handful of meters earlier due to it being a little damp at The Chase, then the recorded speed would be way south of 300.
It would be interesting to see what the MoTeC systems in each car had as a top speed (amongst other readings of course  ), but unfortunately the teams don’t like giving out that sort of thing, unless it was a number sexy enough to be included in a press release. I suppose when your only team car to make it to the end of the race is 32 laps down, you have to make up something.............. Hopefully this means that Larry will finally stop bleating about the Fords having more power, seeing his cars where the only ones to crack 300.

300 my hat...
The only person to claim 300 is LP. Now LP is a great old racer but a sly old fox and one who has been known to embelish the facts occassionaly to help his cause. If I was a team owner I would have sent out a media realease in session 2 or 3 claiming I had made 300 just for the coverage it might get. |

First and foremost
Dont know what the fuss is about , the change in diff ratio was only to stop the engine coming hard up against the limiter for an extended time period, it wasnt done so the cars would touch 300KpH. 300KpH is only for the fanboys However a few printouts that I was fortunate to see showed Vmax of 282.4 - 300.9 from a few different teams (Not Castrol Perkins) during practice and qualifing at the point of brake application in the chase, not on conrod straight as Mr Beattie was measuring. Nah he is saying that the team should have relesed the media statement in sesson 2 or 3, I don't believe he is syaing that the 2nd or 3rd team hit 300 but saying that a media release been relesed in the 2nd or 3rd session
