Although I go out to Bulgaria for the first week of October, come to think of it.....

Very kind, Richard, but no, I shall be near to Norwich with a lot of old Lotus colleagues.

Just spent a lazy afternoon watching the CSCC races live from Brands Hatch via YouTube. Very entertaining races and a couple of decent commentators.

Well done to the CSCC for a good meeting and broadcasting it - haven’t been to one of their meetings for a while.

I actually went up to watch as we are in the country, however although I enjoyed meeting up with a few old friends most of the races got too strung out, some almost immediately from the first lap ! I did take one of my video cameras in the hope of getting some decent footage, however I didn't bother because of the track being lined with 15ft fencing and few decent vantage points, especially Paddock bend. "elf n safety"
At least the weather held out !

As PaulD of this parish was racing yesterday, I too spent quite a bit of time on the stream - his first race involved a fairly close battle with Caan's Aston, until the race was interrupted by a safety car and a (previously unheard of) "race suspension", before eventually resuming only to be almost immediately red-flagged, but in the second race he had a rather lonely race, running ahead of the Aston in a steady 6th place.

Another friend, Simon Benoy in his 1200cc Imp, had two good Swinging 60s races battling with Halsey's 240Z and a BMW1602, finishing 4th and 7th in his races, having qualified 11th.

Enjoyed the meeting generally.

Is Simon Benoy from Stevenage(or used to be)? I remember interviewing him for BBC Three Counties Radio many years ago.

Used to be - moved up to the North-east, near to Croft circuit, a couple of years ago - his wife Karen comes from that area I believe. I've know him for years through the Imp Club, and he's a good lad, and no mean driver!

He's trying to get a Clan Cloverleaf (like a Crusader but fitted with an Alfa flat-four engine and boc more or less amidships) ready for racing. Looking forward to seeing it!

A friend of mine has a Clan Crusader, one of the very last ones cobbled together with bits & pieces right at the end when they went bust. I remember it had some very interesting wiring arrangements for the rear lights. I took him to collectthe car & trying to follow him home to Norfolk on a completely unfamiliar route was interesting as I never knew from the indicators whether he was turning left, right or centre as everything lit up like a Christmas tree!

The perennial curse of a fibreglass shelled car - the need to run earth wires to everything

I noticed this race listed on TSL as the CRCC Classic Formula Libre race. I wonder if this is the pilot for a series of races next season ? Anyway, good luck for tomorrow Iain, hope all goes well.

A low 49 qualy lap is none too shabby. Plus a podium finish in the race.

PI would be a great idea.

Looks like Iain had a fairly lonely race apart from the back-markers he lapped - dropping away slightly each lap from the front two, but equally having a growing gap behind him. A couple of hours until race 2!

Ah you guys were watching . Messed up both starts and got swamped . Fought back to P3 but the front two had long gone up the road . Race two was better but I had car in 4 th instead of second so fluffed second race start as well . Lap times much better but my head started falling off . 25 laps of Brands Indy took its toll . That’s my fun over now to Goodwood with five cars to run. Thanks again for your support . ?

Probably - lucky so-and-so's!

I've had to miss again - hopefully next year will be third time lucky...

Oh, and it's Angouleme (just to avoid any problems with sat nav).

In fact if you ask a native with "Aunguleme" it will work fine. Or follow another trailer…
