You don't know how lucky you are, there in Europe. And even if Europeans have grew anxious about "only F1 fans" imagine what we have here,in Russia. I know five or six sportscar racing fans in the whole ru-net. I've posted a lot of results, statistics from Paul Ricard tests, but there're no comments at Russian forums. It's more difficult to be a sportscar fan in Russia,to research history,to find a racing fan to talk. Many of them support only one pilot in F1,and aren't interested in technical part of racing. It's a kind of football or rugby for them..

helgi - keep a stiff upper lip!
I know what it's like. You have my sympathy.
Just stick to this forum, and you'll get all the sportscar interaction that is required.

Last year, yes. The ALMS had 2 Audis 4 Spyders and 3 Acuras to contend with. And if you do not care to believe me you should at least take Creations input on it.

Quote:
"The level of the ALMS has gone up a quantum since 2006 and it is tough to keep up. Our gap to the front runners was disappointing although our inability to make effective use of softer rubber was a contributing factor--particularly at laguna.
Comparisons between the two series are difficult as the nature of the circuits are in some cases polar opposites: Monza vs St Pete. The races are also longer--setting a premium on reliability. It is clear, however, that many of the ALMS LMP2 grid would harass/outpace LMS Petrol P1s on most of the circuits bar Monza--even in full ACO 2008 spec. It just shows how much work needs to be done on this side of the pond."
In the LMS last year the Pugs were the strongest but still an unproven product. This year with the Peugeots add in two Audis and maybe the Lola coupe with others also improving their game. With the possibility of the Spyders in the mix depending on how the new regs affect their performance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well by the time set by van Merksteijn in the Spyder it seems that the 3 second or so advantage that the P-1 petrol cars had last year over the P-2's is gone, even with the 08 adjustments by the ACO! Seemingly Creation have hit the nail on the head here. This could prove to be quite interesting as things shake out.

ORECA are looking to be the best of the rest, within a second or so of the diesels.

Looking at some pictures on DSC, the car looks almost identical to the R10 at the front.

Oops, that should be RLM. But no the TV streams on the net are usually a pain to find and often very lacking. I am hoping that this is an audio broadcast as per the usual RLM ALMS broadcasts. Then I can at least have a good rendition of the races of the LMS to follow!

Seems Peugeot intend to use Spa as a dress rehearsal for Le Mans, Villeneuve already confirmed in the #7 and now Wurz has been announced to join his Le Mans partners in the #8, according to Endurance-Info.com. I'm now wondering if there's a chance the third car may appear on the Spa entry list?

Duncan Tappy (CV?) will sub (?) for Barbosa at Rollcentre for Monza. He will join Martin and Vanina as Barbosa will be occupied with the Brumos DP entry at VIR.

Interesting call by Rollcentre- Tappy doesn't have any sportscar experience AFAIK, but as sceptic says, plenty of success in junior single-seater categories over the last couple of years- British Formula Renault champion last year, runner up British Formula Ford and Formula Ford Festival winner 2005

Well, Martin Short took a chance on Stuart Hall last year, another single seater guy with no sportscar experience, and he turned out to be a great find, getting faster as the year went on, so hopefully Duncan will turn out the same way! It's great to see young British drivers being given a chance by British teams.

Hmm, Herberfeld out at Embassy and Kimber-Smith in! Is the Kimber-Smith addition a full season switch or just for Spa? And does this put Kimber-Smith out for testing of the LNT/Zytek P-1 that was/is supposed to make its debut at Petit (projected)? link
