OK it's a death trap. Know anyone who's been killed there?
There is nothing wrong with Suzuka. I don't hear drivers complaining. The chicane and Dunlop is where all the accidents happen. They tightened Dunlopn, and roved the chicane |

I like that country section too much to change it substantially!
Changes in orange, old track in brown. Runs clockwise just like the other one. |

Well... with the GP at Imola underway, i decided to make a redo of Imola...
Here it is. The idea was to make it as fast and flowing as possible... A bit like Monza... Therefore i kept it in fast corners, except the two similar around Acque Minerali, which is first a 180 left, then 180 right. The Tosa i also decided to keep. The grey line is the old track. |

Can't say I am a big fan of that Imola remake, the_royksopp, I think it'd be best to just straighten out those two terrible chicanes on the front stretch of the current track...basically restore in to 1994 spec (but with Tambuerello straighter, and with an ashpalt/gravel/tyre/concrete wall run off) |

pirenzo: Kimi and Alesi were lucky in 2001. Kato in a coma, Barros injured, Melandri injured.
Suzuka is dangerous man! Here my my version of Imola. |

A bit of danger is what makes F1 great, if there was no risk at all then the thrill and excitment wouldn't be there. You can't stop racing at what is now (since the loss off spa) to last great race track on the F1 calander because a few drivers got injured. It sounds like you'd rather have them driving round in circles at 10mph with padded walls .

Or better still, get all the F1 drivers oin front of a pc, log them in at VROC and let them race around the Nurburgring for 2 hours.......

For crying out loud!
Hakkiman, how were Kimi and Jean lucky? Were they remotely injured? Barros and Melandri are motorcyclists. They don't count. Breaking your wrist at least once a year is the norm. They rarely complain either. I mean, if you fall off your bike and break your arm, do you ask for mattresses to be put out? |

They were lucky NOT to get injured.
Motorcyclists do count! Barros is getting better. Melandri will be out for months with his broken leg. Kato has passed away. Suzuka is set to lose one of its top events because of this. F1 will soon follow if safety is not improved, its only a matter of time until someone in F1 gets injured. |

They weren't lucky! It take one hell of an impact to be injured in a Grand Prix car. For instance, Fernando Alonso's crash at Interlagos, that was a 4.5g impact with the wheel, then a 70g impact with the tires, followed by a 60g impact with the outside wall. He was a bit winded, and more than a little shocked, but sustained nothing more than a few bruises.

Well of course it is. This is motor racing. Remember "Motor Racing is Dangerous" - if you've been to a circuit you will have seen it. No-one wants anyone to be killed or injured, but the fact that it does happen doesn't mean necessarily complacency. OK. I've said my bit, but this thread is no place for a debate on motor sports safety, IMO. Go to the F1 or Gravel Trap if you like.... |

Indeed I agree.
Motor Racing is about going fast, not about going slow so no one gets hurt. The drivers choose to race, if they're not up to it, they don't have to race. That said, I never like seeing a driver injured of course, its a terrible thing, but it comes with the sport. "Unfortunantly, Racing is also this" - Mario |

Damn right. You're supposed to get involved in motorsport for the love of pushing yourself and your car to the limit, putting it all on the line going for that win, not just chasing the big paychecks in F1.
I'd rather die fast than live slow. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 20 Apr 2003 at 14:05. |

Heres my edited Albert Park.
1: I used the piece of tarmac around there, and a bit more, to make two sharp turns. 2: I basically just deleted the chicane there, to make a fairly long straight... 3: This is not doable. I made a s-curve, a little straight, and then a copy of "Variante Alta" at Imola. 4: I made the area a little more challenging, to get a close braking duel at 1. I also deleted the first chicane, to make it one long straight. |

Don't like the changes to Albert Park. The current layout is better.
DNQ: I have tried to take it back to how it used to be. I like the old corner. |
