Cheapest Sky package for the "free" channels appears to be £20 a month for one year, then £22 a month after that. I presume this is what you have.

If they are refering to motorsport.tv the website (which I suspect they are), then currently it's available for $40 a year, but I don't know if that works outside of the US and Canada.

Either way, if they remove the races from YouTube (that they themselves have been uploading), then it makes it more expensive and less accessible. I don't mind paying for the live stream, and if it's on TV then great. But taking steps back that they recently made forward would be sad.

That press release specifically and only talks about Le Mans historic footage (in practice probably means the official yearly reviews). Motorsport.tv (remember it is ex-Motors TV) already has WEC rights that has not stopped the races from being uploaded to Youtube.

Not really sure where to put this, but Fox and Fox Sports has elected not to renew their LM24/WEC coverage for North America. NA broadcaster is yet to be named.

The downhill of FOX just keeps spiraling ever so faster, the axing of SPEED was damaging enough but this will finally put nail to their coffin.

I hope NBC gets it, however they too have been cutting down programming so I guess ESPN would be the next realistic-ish choice. But they probably would just do some highlight or limited live coverage than actual round the clock

The article at racer.com says Velocity is rumored. Might be good for me, but not for others. I hated FOX and their blocking games, so I'm hopeful for something better.

FWIW: the English PL is on NBC Sports, however FOX still broadcasts the English FA Cup this season. Maybe you mixed those two up?

Fox Sports last aired the English Premier League in 2013, UEFA Champions League in 2018, F1 in 2012, and MotoGP in 2015.

The only significant non-American competitions in Fox Sports are the FIA Formula E, FIFA World Cup, FA Cup and Bundesliga.

A version of Discovery Velocity distributed in Canada shows much of the same automotive themed programming as the American channel, but as things stand now apparently it could not have Le Mans because its licence in Canada does not allow it to show live motorsports. Since the likelihood of any other channel being interested is slim to none, Le Mans will probably not be on a television channel here for the first time in about 20 years, although hopefully by now almost everyone interested in seeing it knows about this thing called the Internet.

I wonder which of the P1 teams will get official ACO TV onboards now that the situation's changed. Guess:

* Alonso vehicle
* "The other Toyota"
* #1 Rebellion
* TBD of the Ginettas (if Kubica's there, that one)

Maybe one of the Dallaras if they can be bothered but probably not. No CLM because the cameras despise them for some reason

It will be nice to have the entire LM24 on one channel here in the U.S., instead of Fox's channel hopping and coverage gaps. The Racer.com article says Velocity will rely on the Eurosport feed, which I have not seen before. It can't be worse than the Fox announcers!

I disagree, last year's coverage by Fox was boosted by the addition of Brad Kettler and Tommy Kendall on the broadcasting team, both a welcome bonus. They likely won't be back with ES. Cole and Kirby will make for a snooze fest.

Eurosport should have Jeremy Shaw from IMSA so that should be familiar to you at least. Last year's absence was an exception after covering every year pior but IIRC it was hinted on air that he should be back in 2018

Now, according to Hindy, Martin Haven will be doing the ACO feed instead of Euosport this year - with TBA people as per usual...

For ES that will mean even more air time for the horrendous nightmare gang of Cole & Parsons & Halliday & most notoriously Carlton Kirby of course... assuming he isn't covering cycling. However David Addison is good and the driver analysts they get tend to be decent (for the most part) like Damien Faulkner

The onboard cameras are bought and paid for by the respective teams - it's a purely commercial arrangement with ACO or WEC (depending on whether its Le Mans or a six-hour race). So if one team doesn't have an onboard it's because they have not paid for one. I believe there is a limit to the number of cameras available, so it's not possible for all cars to have one.

Okay but let's face it, if Toyota said "no we don't want to pay for it" for some reason, do you really think ACO would not put one in the car anyway? Same if this Button thing materializes... It's like shooting yourself in the foot if not.

Anyway, there were number of years where the only onboard cameras in the entire broadcast all week were the works LMP1s and works Corvettes. Before the more recent times, in the Audi-Pug era, I do recall odd year with random Porsche or Pescarolo onboard but only for a total of 10 seconds all week so must've not put much money into it then...

Recently the standard's for the cameras seems to have been:
- Works LMP1s (all cars of each mfg)
- Single Rebellion
- Single "Alpine" or other Oreca
- Random Onroak representative
- Works LMGTE-PROs (at least 1 cam each marque)
- Possible celebrity wagons

Yeah but most of them will be carrying dummy 3kg ballast instead of actual camera.

Eurosport will have full coverage for LM and "whatever" coverage for the other races

However Eurosport Player will have every round in full (separate feed with natural sound)
