while i dont like that decreasing oil prices could reduce incentives to invest in clean energy alternatives, i do find myself rooting for this random economist and his suggestion that the Azerbaijan GP could be in risk!

haha no doubt it was! but has the money changed hands yet? or this could just be empty speculation about cancelling before the 2017 payments are due.
it wouldn't surprise me if this race goes the way of India and S.Korea (and hopefully Sochi) though. |

If the speculation in that article turns out to be correct, it won't happen at all.

Have you not heard the human rights in the country? In my view it's ridiculous some of the races we have on the calendar compared to one's that aren't. What has France got to do to get a GP

There are still issues to be solved for a new contract between FOM and the Italian GP organizers. There are issues about the redevelopment of the track but it is in a public park.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/122772 http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mo...1-race-672777/ If we loose the Italian GP there will be very few of the traditional GPs' left. |

I read that this afternoon, and my immediate thought was: is BCE after better facilities for the paddock, pits and of course his Paddock Club were he can make even more money out F1? Why should the organisers spend money on the paying spectators' facilities when it's obviously more important to spend it on the circus!

Losing Monza would be a tragedy - they've only missed one GP since the inception of the championship (and of course its history goes back long before that). Let's hope that the ACM can sort a deal pretty soon.

if i were them i wouldn't be agreeing to any mandatory development either. it's a beautiful circuit, and you put up with the inconveniences to experience it. european f1 fans get that.

Bernie does himself no favours threatening these classic races. It's only gonna decrease spectator interest

and this is the hypocrisy (or brains) of BE. he wants the circuits to pay for the upgrades to make the trackside and 'Paddock Club' areas more fancy for the VIPs while FOM (and their third party management company which runs the area) keeps the higher ticket prices paid by VIP's to themselves. if you want the circuits to pay for upgrades to help your business then allow them to share in the higher ticket prices, give them an incentive to upgrade but allow them to partially deduct those costs from the ever growing fees and share in the trackside advertising. i know its not as simple as that and the tracks really need to stand together rather than allow themselves to be divided and conquered one at a time. |

Tracks in my view should be protected, like a "listed building".

In Spain, F1 will air only on Movistar+. Therefore Vodafone and Orange customers will be left out. That's extremely stupid. |

No more free to air TV coverage in Spain; only available via a subscription. BCE/FOM/CVC are slowly pricing F1 out of it's prime audience countries in Europe, and they don't seem to care!

Joe Saward has been writing on the subject and he suspects CVC are trying to push short term profits as high as possible to sell F1. It would not surprise me in the least. The only thing is what happens a few years down the road when the audience numbers fall further?
