Hey GTR are you referring to the one that appeared on ebay a while back. That one looked very rough. It seems whoever took the pics was more concerned with showing the stickers than the car. Very sketchy photos to say the least.

You also wonder how informed the seller is when he claims it is the only left from the Moffat stable.

Thanks, for keeping a eye out!I've been speaking to the seller Jack, who i made contact a while back.He was at the time "4 months ago" may sell or not,I talked $$$$$.BUT over my price,in willing to pay for this car NOW,for the condition.
This is the 1st moffat car with NO original log book, only a reissued one by CAMS.Has all Mazda Factory Race parts, barr radiator & diff, G'box coolers taken off.The fueling connections removed "bottles type",one original race seat & need resto to boot.It has 12a mfr pp with 48ida weber & last race at bathurst 1983.
Its a shame,I wonder what it will be worth when the baby boomers have passed on?

David Bowden has a Moffat Rx-7 in his collection, of course, so this is certainly not the last one.

How many Moffat RX-7's were there? I'd hazard a guess at 5...
Anybody?

I remember hearing a story/rumour about Moffat and the 6-speed gearbox that was used in practice for Bathurst 1983.

Gricey (STP Commodore) looked across in amazement as Moffat pulled out and passed him going up Mountain Straight, all the while pulling gears whilst ol' Gricey laboured up the hill with his Borg Warner 4-speed.........

I've heard that the WA car was actually rebodied at some stage. Can anyone confirm this?

I would also dearly love to have one of these Moffat RX-7's in the garage next to my RX-2 and RX-4 but the dollars are quite high I think, for what it currently is.

When you consider how many Group C RX-7's threre were at the time, it's a shame so few still exist in anything remotely like that trim these days, with so many being turned into Sports Sedans and the like after Group C died.

Platinum you are 100% correct! It was nice to see it at the Funeral of Trevor Young (Biante)

One day paul might bring it out around wannaroo except for a private run. His stable is getting quite big!

Another fine example was Peter McLeod's Slick 50 machine or the old Amaroo boys of Shield, Jones. There was a huge following when the RX7 was running hot and one comes to mind was Murray Carters Valentine RX7 now that look great. Its a shame that most of them went into sports sedans as it would be great to see one out on the track in Grp C or in the Touring Car Challenge

Presumably it could be good for a run in the TCC (if they are lenient about histories and things... so no worried there.. ) but it isnt a KB-Ralliart car

Anyone know what happened to the last Ralliart Starions that ran here? ie ex Brad Jones & ex Gary Scott?

I reacall a long time ago hearing a story about them possibly being shipped back to Japan, could be wrong though...

Ron MAsing's one is his own beast, not an Ex Ralliart car, and you may be thinking of Dean Crosswell, Chook. I think he has one but Im unsure of its heritage.

He is a visitor here from time to time so we may find out.........

Crosswell's car was Brian Sampson's Group E car which Sampson slightly modified and ran in Group A. IIRC, the car then went to Paul Trevethan, then to Scotty Taylor. Don't know anything about the lineage between Taylor and Crosswell.

A question for the New Zealanders (& Australian's who know their Group A car history too!)

What happened to the two U-Bix Copiers Volvo 240T's from the 1987 WTCC race at Wellington? And where did they come from? Presumebly one of them was the Rock-Gas entry from the 1986 Wellington 500, and the U-Bix entry at the 1987 January Wellington race, which Gary Croft crashed early on.

I'm also after some pictures of Group A cars that competed in New Zealand between 1985-1990, any will do, but particularly those Volvo's (and Petch's from the Benson & Hedges Series races), BMW M3's and 635's (like the Archibald cars, John Morton's), Francevic's BP Ford Sierra etc... anyone able to post some, or send me in the right direction for some

Looks nice doesn't it!

Being a Grp A nut, Dave Brodie ran a couple of Starions between '83-'87 in BTCC and also took at least one of his cars to Macau for the Guia touring car bashes where Kevin B may have piloted one of them or the Australian entry i'm not sure.

Brodie last ran one in 1987 and then rented it out to some people in various events such as a guy called Chris Aylett who is now a motorsport association big wig in the UK.

Vern Schuppan also shared drives with Brodie in British ETC rounds.

Is there a chance that Brodie's ex BBW cars may have been sold to Australia therefore being possibly one of the cars in question here?
