I think the Aston Martin badge on the front is a bit cheesy (and not very aerodynamic?). Are they going to put badge on the steering wheel too?
It is the logo on the burr walnut panelling I want to see.

Not to flame the poor guy, but I am not sure that he is the rigth choice for that seat, given his history.

Still a better choice than Jan Charouz or Ramos. He is quick so you can forgive him some mistakes, those guys are slow and still make mistakes....

I know they are really trying hard to make this Lola look like an Aston but I can’t see how any of the changes could have aerodynamically improved the car. The traditional front grill looks like a step in the wrong direction and kind of reminds me of the first Cadillac by R&S. I seem to recall the top brass at Cadillac stipulating that the car should have a functioning grill but when the project failed and was handed over to Nigel Stroud the grill was the first thing to go, being replaced by a sticker.

Would be Good if one car was reserved for high quality pro drivers. There GT1 entry had better drivers in both cars last year.

I would love the see that break on picture or see the incident on video (which probably is impossible)
It probably wasnt a break , just a major delamination of the repair , which you may not see very well .

What is the 'best' way to call this car? We know that Aston and Lola are fighting over it, but what would be the most logical name?

Lola-Aston Martin LMP1?
Lola-Aston Martin B08/60?
Lola-Aston Martin B09/60?
Aston Martin LMP1?
Lola-Aston Martin DBR12?

The way they are named by the ACO is Tub manufacture first (then eventual modifiers after, like Courage Pescarolo) and then Engine manufacture!.
So the Lola Aston Martin would be
Lola - Aston Martin (my bet)
or
Lola Aston Martin - Aston Martin!

That being said, Aston seems hell bent on giving it it's own designation as well, so I'd think it'll be Lola Aston Martin and then some type of Astonesque name. DBR12 could work, or how about AMR2?

Altough AMR2 was supposed to be a follower to AMR1, until the program got cancelled. According to Wikipedia, there was a plan for AMR3 too.

AMR 4??. That would sound stupid, and most people wont know why this is!
I think AMR 1 or 2 is the most likely!

Those cars have already been made in the Group C period.

How about calling it a 'LASTON DR1'

like the RML MGola?
I've got a feeling that they may drop the lola part (they can because it's about 75% prodrive now) and really cheese off lola

although it seems clear they will minimise the Lola designation as much as they can - perhaps it will be the lola Aston Martin

your completley correct......the bottom end is not bad, but the cylinder heads are truly horrid affairs.......but to Prodrives credit, it seems to be doing the job in LMP1 though........I read the chief engine guy at Prodrive (Jason Hill) is gagging to do a clean sheet design for LMP1, but Aston cant justify the cost at the moment........no surprises there........what I suspect will happen is they will re-design the cylinder heads for a much reduced valve angle, currently its about 50 Degrees, which creates a massive piston intruder and horrid combustion profile........ ideally it should be around 15-20 Degrees.

Today some information leaked about Aston Martin's new One-77 supercar. This car will have a 700 bhp 7.3 V12 which is developed together with Cosworth. Maybe we will see some of these parts in a furture racecar? Lots of technical information!

sure enough they have done exactly what I said above on the 177 project.......they have made new heads with direct acting cams, so have deleted the finger-follower set-up, and I dare say drastically reduced the valve angle.......I bet those heads will end up on the LMP1 engines too, or probably already are!

Doesn't the engine have to be homologated in a GT1 car first?

One would think!
But 'tis a swan now, so maybe the beauty of it has dazzled and bewitched the scrutineers.

I think the GT1 loophole for restrictors in LMP1 has now been closed off......so I'm assuming the ACO view the 6.0 LMP1 Aston engine as just another 6.0 LMP1 engine.....therefore do with it what you like, standard parts or not.......I'll have a look at the rules tomorrow and see if thats the case for sure.
