Yeah it was pretty good apart from the middle bit when the Saints lost.
The energy data they give us is fun, but they round it to the nearest 5%. This shot is of a graphic where it is rounded to 1%. https://fb.watch/uMvbMkcCZK/? |

Select GTPs have been impounded to perform in-depth homologation checks prior to Petit Le Mans.
- IMSA say this was planned and not in response to a concern about any given car(s) - Two Porsche's and one car from each manufacturer were chosen - IMSA chose post-Indy partly to ensure no clashes with teams' testing schedule - The process will include full 3D scans and drivetrain teardown, amongst other checks |

Good race control, serious post race checks (including the Lamborghini).

I would guess the facility also plays in to it, much more room for the technical equipment/storage/etc than at the Road Atlanta or other paddocks

1. Ford Multimatic has been out performing P&M Corvette lately have you noticed?
2. David Lan, Off the Esses, possibly even Hauk Tua...the IMSA safety car procedure problems are really getting a lot more noticed as of late. I have been saying this for a couple years, but I guess I am not an influencer. 3. Just awesome to see BMW win. The BMW hypercar is a good looking racing machine. Another on of that should have a road car variant. 4. Still trying to see if this Indy 6 hour race is something that should be on the calendar, not really convinced of it yet. |

As I said in that thread, this race was a bit overkill,. too many cars on a very small track, it worked eventually but the early laps were very attritional at times, sure the weather did not help, but I do feel a slightly smaller grid on such tracks would work better, it seems to me as usual that finishing a race like this with no penalties is almost as big as a result as a podium, it gets a little tiring.

You would have to run the scrutineers would ask for X part for their review and your guy get it for them off the car. Pass off issues with removal or damage to the experts. The pit lane guy who's camped a few times near us at Petit was not a guy you'd want to work on the car and he freely admitted it

That's half the fun, better make sure you label it right. Ask Heart of Racing about labels

Good view! Over the years, scrutineers seem to think they are god on racing earth, blessed by the fia label. Sometimes they abuse and it becomes a piece of fun. Hot day in Spain. Black racing car in a dark garage offering some welcome shade. All of a sudden, a scrutineer slips neatly into my car without asking permission… He puts he hands and face in the pedals arrangement and steering system. Then realizes that there's something strange, under the form of four rows of… white teeth. Teeth? Yep! My two black dogs were'nt too happy that a stupido was trying to interrupt a happy siesta!

So Penske #6 penalized (no surprise) and the 40 WTR Acura. My question is wouldn’t the 5 and 10 probably have the same parts on them? Seems like those two get away with one.

Crikey.
But why is that no surprise to you? Did you fit the wiring loom? |

Wiring loom sounds like something that you could have gone to IMSA and asked to change and they would let you (?).
Brake ducting less so. |

The 7 Porsche already finished last in class due to power steering failure. What did they get away with?

Most likely down to dumbass ineptitude. Nice that IMSA are serious on this.
I presume it was the 3D scanning that did for Acura. For Porsche the #6 went from gaining on the #7 to losing out. That’s an oddity. And presumably it impacted other races too, but it is what it is and for what these transgression were (or at least the wiring loom) the penalty and being hauled over the coals is a decent punishment. Could have been more though. |

Curious that the other Porsche that was impounded did not have the same wiring.

Yeah must be a Penske thing.
They impounded highest finisher on every team. So I guess they consider that it is possible things like this can happen to just one team. |

Or it's only cheating/bending the rules/being out of spec if you get caught (or can't provide a good reason to the officials that the rule the breach as justified or consider it a mitigating circumstance)
