Yep, Manual. Sorry, manuel… Do you remember when the rear axle of the Benz was called "broken axle". Quite a complicated design for an average result. Very hard to maintain and refurbish now should you wish for a perfect genuine example.

OK I admit it. Interest piqued, I had to find out more.

Another of him taking his 4000hp Camaro from the drag strip downtown to the gas station, with a passenger, and then on to get ice creams at the shopping strip, then go for a cruise.!

Really impressive! I remember refuelling in the US, I was suprised to see a small tchopper refueling with kerosene! And my Datsun roadster which was an imported car had all the right bits in the trunk. I seem to temember that back in the day you could purchase it when it was in the carmaker catalogue, then have it fitted by an official dealer. First to work hard on their bikes to meet the Cal regs, emissions and recycling, was Honda with the VFR 750. Suzuki played a trick your instances did not appreciate: GSXR's had an air pump under the tank to send fresh air direct to the exhaust pipes, after the valves…

You suppose that is a legit Montana car or a tax dodge? They don't have sales tax on vehicles there, so I know some people who get a PO Box in MT and buy cars with that address.

1 million percent one of the register in Montana for the tax and insurance deals. They are working on making it harder to do after the audit showed how many cars were actually at shell addresses.

I didn't even realize its a dragster! Not many wagons have been used as race cars unless you remember the " TWR bricks" preped by good ol' Uncle Tom. Happy days!

It's an all steel Chevy Caprice wagon, actually, except the hood is carbon. The body is set over a promod chassis and it just worked out that the seat lined up with the back doors. The wood grain is all paint too, not vinyl. It's a bit heavy and "only" runs 6 seconds at 140+ mph but rad all the same.

To go back to the original point, that car is registered and insured as a regular Caprice wagon. We're in the death throws but God bless America while it's still going.

Funny you should say that, Gérard, as my father bought a brand new 300 SL in the late 80s, waited almost a year for it to be delivered, and was shocked that there was no rear seat, and then told that it was a very expensive extra that was only fitted at the factory if ordered.

Those 80's/early 90's chrysler vans are exceedingly rare. They were all driven into the ground by families!
