Before you started posting your musical memories on here Baub I always thought that " 1, 2 ,3 O'Clock, 4 O'Clock Rock. 5, 6, 7 O'Clock, 8 O'Clock Rock" was an extract from a geologists diary!

The ELO live concert from Wembley is well worth a buy providing of course you still have the facility to play Dvd's. Over the years I have collected around 50 live concerts on DVD covering all sorts of genres from the original concert in the park(Simon and Garfunkel) through to more recent David Gilmour live concerts, all great value and timeless in their own right. The ELO Wembley concert is just non stop enjoyment.

Been a bit quiet on here , so I thought I would stir it up a bit .
Took a run up to Scunthorpe today to pick up a car part , haven,t been there for several years .
Made me think of the old saying " If Typhoo put the T in Britain , who put the C*** in Scunthorpe ."

Age must have something to do with it, but I completely fail to see how anyone gets enjoyment from music made in the years beyond 1960.

I blame computer games.

Sadly (some might say) most of the music I listen to is 60/70 years old.

I love anything by Dickie Hart & The Palpitations. Arthur Righters, or Perry Toenitus and the Inflammations.

Rock'n'Roll is King.

I do think that admitting that you listen to TalkSport is a bit like admitting that you read the Sun (which I don’t btw!), but I do like the football coverage and whilst I probably would not like Simon Jordan if I met him, I like to listen to his provocative views on football.

Must admit, I only listen to the radio in the car, but my wife listens to endless podcasts on current affairs, which seems to be a far more modern way of finding information & analysis than watching the superficial stuff on TV “news” programmes.

I also must admit that after 40 years of being addicted to “the news”, current affairs, and analysing information/ intelligence (current affairs, political, military etc) as part of my job, I am bored of it now and the misinformation gets you down.

I stopped reading newspapers about 23 years ago - for 3 years I used to attend, and contribute to, the daily intelligence briefs at the UKs Permanent Joint HQ & I reckoned I had a very good handle on what was really going on in U.K. operations around the world. I was listening in to (or presenting) briefs to the General, and listening in to some of the decisions made; next day I would read stuff in the broad sheets about those same operations that was just rubbish and clearly not based on facts. I concluded that either the papers were guessing, making it up or deliberately being fed false info (or all 3). No point in reading the papers for factual info or analysis therefore.
If that was true of defence activities, i concluded thatit was probably also true of education, health, financial etc etc.
Basically, we are all being fed drivel, and social media has made things far worse. All very depressing!

I felt sorry for young Iain, so I decided to give him a call today, to my surprise, and his credit he recognised my voice immediately. This was a shame as I had intended to scam him into driving my V16 BRM at Spa next year. Never mind it was nice to have a chat about various races and people, although I found it hard to get a word in edgewise- blimey he can talk, I now own a three legged donkey

But one has to what one can for Help the Aged.

Cheers, Iain, I really enjoyed our chat, and hope to bump in to you somewhere in 2025.

Happy days.

PS: He did not even call me Dave.
