Porsche leaped Toyota but I don't think the Porsche took tyres. Toyota did and moved up to the medium compound from hard.

No, that was not that at all. Buemi was complaining about the electronic motors making weird noises. The team checked the telemetry and didn't find anything, told him to change some settings nevertheless, and the noise is gone, apparently.
