Dov should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Jacques Villeneuve:

1. 1995 Indy 500 winner!
2. 1995 Champ Car Champion!
3. 1996 F1 rookie of the year!
4. 1997 F1 Champion!
5. 2??? 24 Hours of Le Mans overall winner?

Now that would be icing on the cake.

He's certainly a legend, in both Champ Car and Formula 1. There is a rumor he may return, which would be great, especially as it's painfull watching him in F1.

Pollock was there today looking at options...maybe they could swap out one of the CART drivers for F1 at the last minute.

Glock & Wirdheim would be the likliest...though I'd fancy seeing Tagliani in F1 personally.

Nobody but Ford could afford to put Villeneuve in a ChampCar, and I'm not even sure if Ford has enough money to do that! As much as I'd love to see it happen, I'm sure that it will not.

He's only being paid $4m to drive for Sauber isn't he? (It might have been £4m, I've forgotten...it was 4m something - maybe rabbits)

There is absolutely no chance Jacques Villeneuve will race a ChampCar this year, in my opinion - and probably not ever in the future either.

If it's profile went up again, I reckon he would.

But the IRL would be more likely. He needs to get himself away from F1 at some point based on his last 5 years efforts...so it's either back to Indy/CCWS or sportscars...or dishonourable retirement.

His ChampCar days are a decade ago now - I just don't think he'd see any point in coming back.

He's more likely to have a crack at Le Mans - a long held ambition of his.

Yeah well, the report was vauge......it could've been NASCAR for all the details Ted Kravitz gave us....

But since it was pollock doing the talking, the Champcar connection was the first one that sprung to mind....

It'd be too dependent on getting a competitive drive in your first year, and not a real reflection of who had the best first season.

Jacques has spoken out against the IRL, and oval racing in general. He doesn't like it, and he thinks it's dangerous. Not that he would ever let anyone take away his Indy 500 title.

... back in 1996 Jacques Villeneuve was a litte more than "F1 rookie of the year", he was the runner up and second in the championship standings... and not to forget he won the F1 season opener in Australia (his first F1 race!) and was fighting all year with his teamate Hill for the championship...

How sure are they about the 3rd forsythe/3rd coyne car?
Are Mazzacane and Lavin definitely ruled out now?

he actually didnt win the opener in 1996 he finished 2nd to Hill but he did take Pole at his first attempt.

I was there that day and he was very impressive

his first win came in Rnd 4 at the Nurburgring

It seems as though JV's stock has been headed steadily downward... maybe he might have to humble himself and accept something far less than what he was paid at Sauber. Whether it will be CCWS or sports cars, he doesn't have the marketing draw that he had in his golden days. All good things eventually run their course.

The cars will be there. 18 will be paid for. And there'll be plenty of drivers around to stuff in 'em....after 82 pages of speculation here.
