This rumor are reasonable for Jenson Button to join Nissan in GT500, that because Mclaren F1 team is switching to Renault right? But for my opinion , I think Jenson Button for Mclaren F1 reserved driver was replaced by Lando Norris , so he also can join Honda , but for Nissan for Jenson Button to GT500 its out of the question. |

This is gonna be interesting. If McLaren's switch to Renault engine next year means enabling opportunity with Nissan, Button will have much more chances next year, including IMSA (with Tequila Patron ESM).
Well, I'm not sure about his chance at Super GT. No idea who will be out from GT500 squad. Probably more like reshuffle on the lineup for next year. I think Mitsunori Takaboshi, the newly crowned F3 champion, has chance to return to GT500. |

i thought that Button had severed his ties with McLaren, so whatever engine they use has no baring upon his future

Nissan is also taking over the branding of Renault in formula e. Something to think about regarding drivers.

I would love to see Jenson in sportscars, his smooth style would really suit the cars

If you're talking about Jenson Button going full-time, here's a tweet from SGT World:
https://twitter.com/supergtworld/sta...80042485096448 Please note that it's still speculation, but there's a high chance that Jenson will race next year. Then again, which team shall he join? |

Not talking about Button going to F-E. I'm saying with Nissan taking over the Renault F-E project (in name) you could see some driver confusion and openings. It's also interesting with Button staying contracted to McLaren which will switch to Renault engines. Renault and Nissan are a joint company so it makes a lot of sense for Button to be in consideration for Nissan SGT drive. And this may have some implications on him in IMSA, that's talk for another thread.

Have now caught up with Team Button - they are entirely happy with the speculation but make it lear that there has been NO contact with Nissan over Super GT - Looks like Honda it is then!

Well if he can’t get the superlicence to F1, he must try the next best thing
