Or Rahal. Or Viso, it was said one year ago.

All of the factors are in place to speculate that Graham Rahal drives for a satellite team of Chip Ganassi Racing, run by Sam Schmidt Motorsports.
That's my speculation, it has not been floated anywhere in print to my knowledge. |

The only place I've read it is in other forums as a speculative item...just as you have posted...and I think it could happen if Graham's sponsorship package is sufficient enough.

It's all good, I hadn't read it and wanted to make sure everyone knew it was nothing more than a wild a&& guess.
Ganassi > Schmidt previous relationship Ganassi > Rahal have been talking since last Feb. Schmidt bought Vision's shop and equipment (cars unaccounted for). Rahal has a check. Adds up to me. |

Adding to the silliness:
Randy Bernard did a one hour interview tonight. The only item relevant to this thread is that he is attempting to find money for a "scholarship" to award Indy Lights Series winner J.K. Vernay. If it happens, that gets Vernay in an IndyCar seat for at least a race or two. |

Why would Graham take his $$$ to Schmidt operating as a satellite for Chip? It's one thing to drive for Chip full time..only equivalent is Penske. Schmidt would be moving up from IndyLights. He has no experience running a full season of INDYCAR. I would think Graham would be better off with Andretti, Panther, NewmanHaas or even Dad's team.
That said I'd love to see Schmidt move up, but I think a lesser driver would be more appropriate. |

I wanna see Graham back with Newman-Haas to be honest. Getting the gang back together and all that.

Rahal lacks the $10M required to match Target funding and secure a third seat at Ganassi. Townsend Bell has run competitively in Ganassi equipment at Indy, driving for Sam Schmidt's "satellite" partnership with Ganassi.
Establishing a full time program would enable Rahal the position to eventually move to a full time ride with Chip...either as a third car when the requisite sponsorship appears, or as a second driver when a seat becomes available. Or he opts for another choice, as you have suggested. Silly, ain't it? |

Don't know, Jay said "I would choose this deal over the deal i had last year every day of the week". A one race deal over a five race deal, read into that what you will.

A one race deal with a bigger team maybe? Or having a dig in some way at SFR? A little harsh if that is the case, but then again that may not be the case at all.

Chip Ganassi has ruled out expanding to 3 cars (so no Rahal there) but he also said he could set up a junior squad.

What do you think about Sarah Fisher in 2011? Will she continue to drive the car? Or will she be only a team owner?

SFR is celebrating Halloween at their shop tonight. I hear that a couple of guys are going to the party masquerading as engineers.
Maybe it has been confirmed, but I haven't seen anything that said Dollar General is continuing their sponsorship role. Assuming that happens, I would guess one driver for a full schedule and Sarah in a second seat for Indy only. |

Cheer PZ, but after all...it is almost Mischief Night.
So TK gets a buyout and release from AA...then they announce a two year contract with RHR, although sponsorship has not yet been specified. And AA says the 7-11 pullout was a "blindside", although they had some concerns about the status beforehand. And the terms of Hunter-Reay's contract were ironed out just before Indy..... That looks like any available funding was planned for RHR, and there was no intention of using it to honor TK's contract once 7-11 pulled out as a primary. At least TK didn't have to waste much time in limbo, but I think the point is kinda clear. See ya old pal, welcome back new pal. A bisquet wrote on T* that Hildebrand was testing today for Panther. Sebring wouldn't say who is on track today, but they could be running alongside the ongoing Lights testing. And Barber is open at least tomorrow, Marco tweeted that he is running there. Might be lots of mischief by the time the weekend passes. For a fact, Newman/Haas' reps are workin' it hard. If that team is folding, it isn't for lack of effort. |
