The Audi looks really ugly compared with the other two, looking forward to seeing them all racing though. Hopefully the lack of spindly little aero parts should mean better racing - they might be able to survive a little bit of contact better.

I'm glad that they haven't gone too over the top with the livery and am also glad it has classic BMW M colours. Does anyone know if all six of the cars will have the same livery or will they split them like Audi and Merc have done so in the past like Saltzgitter/Deutsche Post etc.

That, and the wing doesn't look particularily DTM-legal. If I am not mistaken, that one is cropped from an Aston DBR9...

I think you're right those struts of the wing look familiar. I have seen some very interesting visualizations of Opel Insignias around the web.

I agree that currently the Audi is the ugly duckling, even though it's the Mercedes that's black (and most aggressive imo).

They've managed to make the cars look squashed and fat.
My ideal DTM 3-series would be the GTE M3 chassis/stance/wheels, S2000 wing and V6 turbo around 400bhp. |

No way. The GTE car looks like a pig, it's too tall imo. I like this new car, the rear end could use some work, and the wings are hideous, but other than that it's top notch.

2012 will be very interesting, 3 manufacturers makes the DTM much healthier. The bmw livery looks great

I think the Class 1 cars are as radical looking as a touring car should ever be. Last edited by JAG; 5 Nov 2011 at 20:09. |

Class 1 aren't bad at all, but my favourite looking touring cars are Argentine TC2000s.

Yep, those evil silhouettes...
Like I said on another thread silhouettes do not bother me at all. If I want to watch real Production based touring car racing I will watch the Continental Tire Challenge, which is fantastic, produces great racing and is very affordable, especially ST. |

It's just funny how this forum is usually quite opinionated against silhouettes and still loves TC2000... (Yeah, gross oversimplification, I know) |

TC2000s have spec engines (British V8s next year!) but true chassis and bodies.

I don't really understand why BMW has concentrated fully on DTM. Withdrawing from WEC and effectively sportscar racing (minus ALMS), and concentrating mainly on a 'national series'. I love DTM, but surely it has much more limited marketing potential?

True, but DTM is the only series where they can fight both their biggest rivals, and I think that's an important factor to them.

And BMW's fifth driver is....... Joey Hand
Nice to see an American in the DTM, first time if I´m not mistaken. That pretty much completes BMWs lineup as there is little doubt that Dirk Werner will be driving the sixth car considering the amount of testing he has done. |

Good signing. He really impressed me at Surfers Paradise in the V8s.
