the red escort of ray barrow was warming his tyres up to druids and then lost complete control and nearly put it in the wall on the formation lap !!! i was lead to believe this was a complete no no but it seems all is fine to do that as long as no one reports it !

I realise no criticism of Eddy was meant, anyway he's big enough (just) to stand up for himself.
Anyway, numbers front and rear, never saw them at the weekend, but when I go and look at snappy Jon's pics, they are blindingly obvious.
In my defence, once a car starts doing something naughty, I look for the (biggest) number in the obvious position.
PS the Werthers gave us the strength to cope with all those naughty BMW that parked up in front of us.

"God only knows" why you would want to join the Beach Boys and "Do it again". Doesn't sound like "Fun, fun, fun" to me. Hope the beach towels didn't get too wet.

I've had some feedback on race numbers from someone who doesn't post. The feeling is that it really would improve the ability of marshals to report things if the numbering on cars was better.

The Blue Book is very specific but many competitors do not comply to it. There were quite a lot of cars with dodgy numbers last weekend and I know that the co-ordinators dealt with some but the feedback I have is that there were still cars without numbers on their bonnets or with the wrong numbers on their bonnets etc.

It really would help marshals if numbers were better, I know from a startline point of view, if there are no decent bonnet numbers it really slows up gridding up cars as you have to get sideways on to a vehicle before you can get it into the right place.

Maybe it's not in a driver's interest to have a car on which the numbers can be easily read....

Most scrutineers are not interested in checking as its not "safety" or "technical"

Just a note to say thanks to my team on 23 over the weekend. Good crew all round and SH as PC was a good mix. Good clear ups when required including pushing an escort out of the gravel, 1 single seater was pushed out during its practice and an almost impossible snatch on Saturday was executed well and cleared up v quickly. I believe there were alot of good marshalling and interevntion over the weekend so well done to everyone on all posts. VW Beetle fire looked intersting as well. Impressed by the blue Sierra that when going inot the pits hit the recticells on the way in. Guessing it was a mechanical reason.
Stay safe folks

On a completely different subject, I apparently won £10 in the draw, and Mildred says that all envelopes were delivered to posts. Did anybody perhaps see one for "Steve Sutton" get to the wrong post, or something, as it never made it as far as me.

Thanks!

I've had the same responses and I'd like to know where the responsibility for ensuring compliance does lie?......and don't say "with you, John"

I've already been in touch with Mildred, and she says that all prizes were sent out to posts via course car, and that she was told that they were all delivered. There were two winners on 7 according to the winners list, and the other guy got an envelope with a tenner in.
It's not actually a big deal, but I'm hoping it might have been delievered to the wrong post and that I might have some chance of seeing it - I'm not quite ready to throw myself at the end of an oil slick on the first lap of a clio race yet!

It is always said that good advocates never ask a question unless they already know the answer but I'm not sure you can extend that to clerking.

We are lucky then as ours scrutineer certainly made it clear when number changes were required.

Yes, thanks John, but most of the other classes had cars with unsatisfactory numbers. Although most were happy to correct them after our concerns were pointed out -- lack of front number, different numbers side and front, etc

As For Post 23, We had RS to keep us in order, but there was a distinct lack of Werthers! A big thanks to the 4 Tasters, one came armed with a bag of liquorice allsorts, and a one first season-er. I really enjoy having raw recruits on post as they get us thinking about the basics.
BTW #114 BMW qualified with no side numbers and was listed in the program as #119. Oh well, all part of life's rich tapestry I s'pose!
Would've been nice to suck on an original...in a manner of speaking!

'Ere, I've been gone for two days and what happens? They all talk about me.
I'm used to that, but usually it is in a not such a good way.

Short reply to all:
John, as has been said, 4 wheels off are done from 8.
Yes, I know what you mean with you know me well. (I think, I hope). Don't worry, no offence taken, didn't even cross my mind.
now wait untill he races again next meeting, arff, arff.

Alisdair, offcourse I have limits, more than others I hastily add. At least I'm "big" enough to confess to that.
About my size: you're not that much different, aren't you?

Now stop talking about me and go on with other things.
