The media has been talking about convergence for a long time. It seems like they may be right. There's a joint ACO/IMSA press conference this weekend. All signs pointing towards prototype convergence in some sort of manner.

Mazda-no hybrid lineup so limited marketing but LM24 changes everything GM-many hats they could wear with a WEC program Toyota\Lexus- well that's self-explanatory Glickenhaus-I'm thinking US racing would make him grin ear to ear Pug- well FCA merger gives them options but doubt convergence would impact their decision Aston Martin-gets back in the US game and possibly sales The possible parties of Bentley, Lamborghini, Audi, Ford, etc all have their own reasons for this being positive. BUT we've all been positive at times (excluding the BOP hatred of course) about the possibilities so always try to temper if with plenty of time for both parties to f (it) up beyond all recognition. |

GM is not racing any world championship, particularly one based in Europe. Current manufacturers doing full time programs in both series seems unlikely in general and is probably not really the point, although it could be an option for Ford I guess

NBC reportedly aired a teleevangelist show instead of the race in some local stations.

I wonder if that show has a watertight contract in some areas, hence why it was shown over the race

David Land's videos at the Daytona 24 this weekend were very good. Give them a look.

So I did the NBC TrackPass for IMSA this year..Not impressed at all. It got to a point where I'd rather just wait for the IMSA Radio/TV replay to come up on youtube the following Thursday.

Sync the imsa radio feed with the track pass feed. It's too easy to do than simply resigning to waiting for a replay to come up.

Crime against humanity here. Please message info@imsa.com to let them know about the frustration. They posted the Petit Le Mans on youtube using the NBC broadcast...not IMSA radio. First world problems I know...still not happy about it. Lets hope it gets switched out soon.

If you have the IMSA app on the Roku, I think IMSA radio should be on that replay. Looks like it's not up yet...

It usually takes a week after the event, I would assume it's the restriction under the contract to air. NBCSN just showed it again last night so I would expect they want some viewership on their network first.
Remember Petit got an estimated 110k viewers, that's no one cares and infomercial territory. We aren't going to get premium tv space, yelling about it isn't going to change that |

You can still sync the rlm race replay with the muted NBC track pass replay. I know it feels like jumping through hoops, but it's still doable. There's other things in life worth more emotional outrage

Once again at around the 57 minute mark of TWISC on November 20 episode. Graham Goodwin without naming him goes after John Dagys hard for posting what he says is a speculation article about the Aston Martin GTE Pro status for 2021....relax Graham. Its a good thing you don't work in political/news media. i liked GG, Marshall AND the S365 guys for what they do.

It's like what Kevin Harvick said about a decade ago when motorsports writers start spreading rumors. Quote your sources. If they're not willing to go on record, don't mention them or make it clear that it's rumor.
But then again, DSC/RLM don't always quote stuff that's also dead obvious, like the real reason why VAG dumped their LMP1 programs in favor of Formula E. Dieselgate made a convenient cover story for that. Just remember that an unnamed Porsche Motorsport official (at least he was willing to ID himself as such) said that Porsche (and probably Audi Sport as well) only seriously gave a damn about LM, and that the rest of the WEC didn't warrant the investment/had no worthwhile ROI for them. And FE sends a green message while being massively cheaper than LMP1. Granted, on that one one can say that no one held a gun to VAG's head to spend $150 million+ a year on LMP1 and LM, but the ACO encouraged it with their "go big or go home" attitude on hybrids and neglect of lower powered hybrids as far as EOT/BOP and disdain for privateer teams in LMP1--at least until the writing was on the wall. One, even Toyota was spending nearly $100 million a year on LMP1 in '16 and '17, and they were the only factory team in LMP1 still standing after that. |

The Sebring 12 Hours on NBC averaged 450 k viewers.

John Hindbaugh has some good interviews he did with John Doonan and Doug Fehan dated on Nov 20. Just found it today though. Big recommend to listen.

I want to recommend a new auto racing youtube channel that I discovered that is very promising. "Triple Crown Racing". Give it a shot. He gives sportscars a lot of coverage although he covers other forms of racing too.

NBCSN is shutting down after this year. Live sports go to USA Network when not on NBC main. Probably bad news for IMSA and also Indycar since there will be less air time available. |

NBCSN IMSA coverage is almost irrelevant. IMSA Radio crew though has the infrastructure in place to allow IMSA to go the paid subscription streaming route themselves. IMSA Radio (Radio show Limited) already covers all the races, support series, and weathertech series practice and qualfying sessions. Also they do preview, review, and interview segments. Just do a lot of that with the camera now. Especially the practice sessions. Could also give us the cool live timing and scoring stuff now too. Also with a subscription service you should have the ability to watch race replays with no commentary at all. John, jeremy and Shea are great for first and second viewing. But if you had the ability to remove commentary then the races could re-watched 3rd, 4th, etc times. MLB.TV by the way has that option to watch games with now commentary on their web site based service. |

If IMSA falls off of TV then there was outright no point in selling out to NASCAR. Which isn't to say it won't happen, as the AMA found out.

It seems after Panoz won LM in GT2 in '06, Panoz was either trying to sell control of the series to someone else or was hoping that other OEMs would help foot the bill. And we all know what happened when Audi Sport killed their LMP1 program for the ALMS after '08 and Porsche did turn the RS Spyder program into a genuine customer program.
Not to mention that Don Panoz tried to sell majority interest in IMSA to Jim France as early as late 2006. Besides, no more NBCSN after this season does also sort of effect NASCAR, as most of their races were being shown on NBCSN. At least it gives USA Network something to show other than WWE stuff and Law & Order re-runs. |
