You are sought by missile tracking makers to become a high speed ground target for missile tracking exercises!

You hire it of course, the same way you can hire just about anything.... coming along with that would be teh expectation that it was also a secure environment, with only those people engaged in an official capacity with permission to be present upon its grounds.

This clearly did not happen in this instance... and whether there are repurcussions might be interesting to follow...

Why on earth do AVESCO insist on sorting out rule breaches at the following race meeting?

Why can they not do it between rounds!?

Can anyone give me a logical reason? Because surely it would be beneficial to everyone to get it all sorted out before the next race.

I am sure it has something to do with the fanciful notion of trying to save costs for teams, competitors and CAMS themselves.

I presume the stewards who will hear the claims have day jobs outside of motor racing.... which precludes doing it earlier...

But in the SBR case, a strong contingent from that team found the time, energy & money to go to Melbourne midweek to have their case heard.... admittedly this was an appeal rather than a judgement, but the same scenario should apply.

What could be gained by running a car, which inessence is controlled in some areas of setup, aero, etc, around somewhere like an airstrip.

Quite a bit actually... air management is one of the things the F1 boys do lots of work on, making a car more aero efficient by channelling it into different directions than the standard road car.

Understanding the flow of air and downforce generation on the front splitter is best understood at high speed, and a standing start run can help measure wind resistance with the right kinds of sensors attached.

Subtle changes, like routing of brake cooling scoops, radiator intakes, air intakes for additional horsepower etc etc are all adjustable, and highly subtle changes that can change speed by 1%...

If you look at some of the subtle things on fuel tanks of some cars, there are ridges on the bottom of the tank shrouds, to act like some form of diffuser... HRT has this kind of thing in place...

Didnt they spend time at a Melbourne Wind tunnel? or was the illegal test cheaper?

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Maybe they where confirming the findings of the windtunnel work in a "real world" situation.

Didn't HRT send a car to the states for shock absorber work earlier this year. I wonder how tightly controlled that test was.

Considering the only car sent overseas was a Monaro mule, I dont think there is too much to see here....

I just thought of this illegal testing in an interesting way... Are TD now labelled as cheaters. a pretty harsh tag, but thats exactly what they were doing. Not only management in the team, but drivers, mechanics, the lot.. they all new what they were doing. Will this hurt there chances of future employment?

Do you think of Brock as a cheat?
Do you think of Johnson as a cheat?

Both have been caught for cheating.

Something I am now curious about is what RDMDOG said in an earlier post about wind tunnel testing.
IF Avesco is trying to cut costs by restricting testing to so many days etc, how much does it cost to hire a wind tunnel. I assume it must be a lot of money as was this not the reason Avesco didn't want to put the AU up against the VT? in a wind tunnel to check for parity(Not the real reason but the excuse used). None suitable in Australia and the prohibitive cost!
And if a car is tested in a wind tunnel is that a test day? and you can bet that the results are not for sharing with the other teams so if you have deep pockets then I guess you can gain from it - or can you without doing what Dynamic have been accused of?
Something else I am currious about is if the accused were admitted to the base on official business (hired or whatever they would/should need a clearance)and were then sold out by an informer- already admitted but to what gains(and no I am not a Dynamic fan)then who let the Gestapo on to the base and under what guidelines. All I can think BAN01T is that you must be high ranking to meet the Gestapo after they had arrived and get them on base so easily.OR Avesco must have a lot of pull in official circles to actually get all the way out to the strip on short notice. Either that or the security is really slack and the tipoff was a set up. A lot of things don't add up.

Fordo -

Unfortunately, not every military base in the ADF is heavily monitored. 75% of the troops that parade at Bullecourt Barracks in Newcastle have kets to the unmanned gate, which is left open during parade times and all day. As long as you can present ID to the MP's hen asked to, no wucckers!

If the missile strip has no use to the ADF these days, you will find there is little infrastructure there, and they only had to book with C-SIG prior to the test, as external use. No guards, just a handover of keys and a range/facility usage sheet.

Basically, if the range/facility/base has no Vital Assets, no need for 24 hour manning, is there? Money saving, basically.

Now, in saying that, C-Sig is a large group, and no doubt there are motor racing fans in it - wouldn't have been hard for a leak to come from there!

Nominated Test Track for Team Dynamik is Mallala not Woomera. So straight away breach of Regs. Going thru the process of covering up signage on tranporter, car and uniforms, very strange indeed.
The rule that covers this is as follows including penalities.

B.6.6.7 Intentional Breach
Competitors must not intentionally breach any of the following Rules
(b) the Test requirements contained in Rule D.1

Penalty can be $250K fine Max.
all points accured by the offending competitor for the season and
Exclusion will be minimum penalty to be applied

That would be why AVESCO/TEGA have not made an anouncement yet. They would be making sure that all the I's are dotted and all the T's are crossed before presenting the case to Stewards.

All these regs can be looked at/ downloaded from the V8supercar site under Tech Talk.

With all the expense to cover up the transporter and car, makes you wonder if they have done this before!
