Firstly, my car and many others that I raced with and against would have been just as wide if not wider than BTCC cars. Many of us had to run fabricated arches to cover our wheels, and in my case, I also had to use spacers on the hubs so that I could fit the wheels. I ran 10 or 12 inch wide on the front, and 15 inch wheels at the rear. And we still managed to start races 3 abreast at Oulton, not a staggered one by one as now. Secondly, the track "belongs" for that second to the cars in front. It is the responsibility of that or those drivers to not collide with the cars beside them, but it is not their responsibility to be watching in their mirrors for what some fool may be doing behind them. As you say, the two cars were coming towards each other to obtain the better line through Old Hall, and it was up to Bushell to have thought that through. It's not a game of 'After you', 'No, after you, Sir'. |

I noticed some very aggressive downshifts from Collard during the races. I presume on the throttle is Rev limited to about 7000 rpm but downshifts are not regulated? (Rev limited)

Mr Plato will I understand be honouring the contracts he has signed. I hope that he finds himself in a better place once this year at BMR has run its course.
Very impressed with young Mr Simpsons drive; finally has reached his potential - Eurotech clearly fits well for him. Gutted for him the engine died, but I really don't think he gave a hoot after the win! I missed most of the racing this weekend: only saw the first round and the F4 on the telly. itv catchup beckons! I did see a clip of Moffat driving past Plato like Plato was stood still... was he having an issue or was that a fair reflection of his cars pace? |

Wont be the last startline accident that we will ever see. I do not think a freeze frame forensic analysis is needed. One car going left, one right and one fast starting car behind aiming for the gap that rapidly disappeared.

Good job no other generation every suggested any silly changes be made to circuits! That'd have been awful...! -- Anyway, back in the land of normal - BTCC drivers crashed on the start line at Oulton Park and people say they managed it back in the day. Not sure how selective peoples memories are, but there have been plenty of accidents in BTCC before turn 1 at Oulton over the decades. This was just another one of those. It isn't worse than it used to be, and it isn't better than it used to be. It's exactly how it's always been at Oulton Park. The real question is if the cars have outgrown the circuit, and I don't think they have. |

Does anyone know why they don’t use the full circuit at Oulton? Or Donington for that matter?

Donington GP doesn't seem to flow as well as the short circuit, although I would personally like to see them back on the GP loop |

I personally would like to see them try the Fosters layout.

Can't renember if it was 2014 - but sounds about right! - but they did indeed run the longer layout. There was a race of super Tourers that day - or rather was meant to have been, but lots of rain and indecision over starting caused it to be canned as BTCC third race had to be run before the noise curfew.

Not sure they used the full circuit though, I’m fairly certain it was the island layout. |

They did manage to avoid the first crashes at Oulton Park, which used to be quite common, I remember Cleland had quite big one there in 99 in the ST days, they had a few wide runners and dust kickers there on Sunday, but were well behaved there generally. |
