Pauln...

thanks for the update.
for those doing it for the first time, you are given vouchers for food over the course of the weekend, this will prob reduce your shopping list for "things to take".
not sure if you get them for the friday aswell, but i know defo for the sat/sun.
maybe someone could kindly update us on this
thanks

Need help

Hi all

Greetings for the day

I will be marshalling at this prestigious meet for the first time. I will be marshalling for three days. Normally I marshal at oulton park, I do marshalling in the pits and startline.

I am international student and I study & live in Aberystwyth,Wales.

I want to know how to reach silverstone circuit. which is the nearest station milton keynes or northamptoshire. As from Aberystwyth
I can reach both of them and from their what is the way to the track.

Is their any direct bus to the track or the nearest village from either of the train stations.

Also if possible can I join some marshal on their way to silverstone.

I could be contacted at racerdunks@gmail.com
and my mobile no is 07942853810.

Look forward to get some help.

Kind regards

Vijay

it's come around so quick again, so who is out to play for the 24.
above is a link to the provisional list which stands at 68 cars at present.
or if this is your first time out for this meeting, feel free to ask any queries you have, no doubt the answer will be out there somewhere.
as per usual, this is one of my highlights of the year, can't beat 3 days of sleep deprivation whilst being sober on a Saturday night and waking up to cars racing at silly 'o' clock....sweet

public transport is easy getting to the circuit (bus no. 88 from Northampton then 1/2 mile walk, although if the bus is empty then the driver will often divert and take you nearer)

But of course, in true public transport fashion... the bus doesn't run on Sundays so unless you are camping until Monday (not sure if Silverstone allows this) then that's it

This map, available at BMMC website for South Mids, should help.

No, I believe the email is for members of the silverstone marshals team primarily for incident.

I'm trusting it does for this one at least - no plans on rushing home on Sunday night.

I'm flagging, volunteered through club and I got one.

Incidentally, good work Penny, it's really helpful having the info sent through early and in this way. Many thanks.

I had a bit of a lie in on Monday, last year, and as I was busy packing up the 'van, somebody came to knock on the door to ask if I'd be out of the way by 12, as they had hired the runway for something or other.

As for directions to the runway; come in the main entrance as if going to diner/bar sign on, but turn right at the roundabout after the second (Wellington straight) bridge towards the concrete runway area. Last year we were told to camp on the grass (not the tarmac) on the far side of the runway, where there were hookups setup (although a few had been taken support race competitors who were next to us on the tarmac.

Haven't received instructions for this year yet, but I think somebody mentioned above that we may be on Copse outside instead this year.

Penny's e-mail says:

Quote:
Camping is available at Copse Outside. Power hooks up are available on a first come first served basis but there will be generators in addition to the usual supply. If you can no longer make this meeting please let me know as soon as possible
I have a three way splitter, so as long as I can break into someone's line I can provide power to another two. There's not usually a problem.

Vijay, I can't help you on Friday because I don't get back off holiday until Friday afternoon and won't be down until Saturday morning but I can give you a lift back to Shrewsbury Sunday. There are trains to Aberystwyth from there quite frequently.

Send me a PM if this is any use and I'll pick it up before I come down.

That's a really nice gesture courageous, thankyou very much indeed.

But as Fazza said, it has been used for a refreshment/keeping dry and warm room on this event. But I can't see any harm in you dropping Penny Norris a line and mentioning your offer as she is the boss.
If someone needs a powernap then what a brilliant idea.

Elliot.

Except for last year, when carnage on the campsite (rain/wind) resulted in that and the pit office being turned into emergency refuges.
