Sucks we have to wait two days before more on-track action

About the different performances of the 708 and 709:
“We did two very different jobs on the two cars, working on different topics. One car was working more on setup and the other was working more on control settings. “This is the reason why we have had a difference of performance between the two cars. “The No. 708 was working on setup. Now we have to merge everything together and see if we can find something between the output we did with one car, and the output we did with the other one. “I can tell you that it’s been a very good testing day.” https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...ding-test-day/ |

Obviously running through their programme, as they did at every test day. The Toyotas put in horrendously quick average laptimes in the afternoon, laptimes in succession, for which nobody couly put an answer in the Hypercar class. I was veery impressed by their pace.

Lap Times (long stints)
Quote:
Here is an average "stint" laptime. For the fastest 15 "stints" that were 7 laps or over. Actual there were only 15 times that a Hypercar did 7 laps or over. I needed to go down to 7 laps to have #709 in and also to get more than one Alpine.
Stint length is the number of laps that car did in that run. Fast is the number of laps are the number of laps that went into the total. I have removed "slow" laps, as before these are any laps more than 10% slower than the fastest for that car on the day. Fastest for each car is highlighted. Lap Times (long stints)
Here is the same top 15 for LMP2.
A better indication than those fast laps on the short stints. A strong showing by United. A good pace advantage there for LMP2 and they appear 4 times in the list. They could still do with a decent qualifying to make that count early on. WRT appear a lot too, but some of those runs were a little shorter. There were 102 "stints" 7 laps or over. Here is the #84 car in the innovation class:

Lap Times (long stints)
GTE Pro
There were 21 stints of 7laps or more. Porsche and Corvette with a pace advantage over Ferrari? And as these are long stints - does this mean no tyre deg. issues for Porsche here? Last edited by Adam43; 17 Aug 2021 at 21:56. |

Lap Times (long stints)
GTE Am
Some of these stints are a little short, but I stuck to the arbitrary 7 laps minimum. Making it 10 laps or more you get a slightly different picture, but Project 1 are still at the top and there are some teams that appear in both.

Some notes from test day from EI
https://www.endurance-info.com/auto/...a-journee-test One i find interesting, is how fast the AM's are in LMP2. This can be so important to a cars overall place in the class but I don't really see this talked about a lot. Quote:
Thanks for the stats above Adam, it is going to be tight between the LMP2 and Hypercars all race long. Only a couple seconds slower on average stint lengths doesn't spread the field much. |

We have to imagine Toyota having the longest stint length with Glick probably able to match. Alpine 1 less lap, and then P2, will they be near the Alpine or even a lap shorter? |

Can't wait to see how the times develop through the week as the track does the same.

I have a non-editable pdf from test day: http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/Res...%20Testday.pdf and this helpful list https://driverscategorisation.fia.com/public/drivers But niether are exportable in an easily useable format. The latter has annoying pictures instead of words like "Gold". |

Weather is looking pretty great the whole weekend too, so hopefully the winners can get into the 380's or higher in total laps

Drivers
There is a similar range in GTE-Am over the bronze drivers. Although there are a bunch near the top that are close to each other. Going to be a good race.
There are some that didn't get that many laps and maybe that hurt them. Last edited by Adam43; 17 Aug 2021 at 21:57. |

Top Speeds
There will be some good racing that is for sure.
Next up is a distribution of maximum speeds (from the ACO's timing). I hope this chart is clear. It shows two things. 1. The bars are the distribution of maximum speeds and each class. The number of cars that registered the specific speed as their top speed is shown against the right hand axis. There were three cars that registered 331.8 and two with 329.8 km/h. If you want just a list of these speeds, check out the official timing page: http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/Res...Test%20Day.PDF Interestingly the measurement it quite discrete. It hints it is accurate to the nearest 0.1km/h, but it isn't. At the highest speeds it has 1km/h intervals in the data. 2. The lines represent a distribution of the speeds seen in a class across all laps completed and all competitors. This could be viewed as a likelihood of that speed on each lap. As you see the distribution stops at the highest recorded speed in that class. Last edited by Adam43; 17 Aug 2021 at 21:39. Reason: header |
