That means that van der Garde was fastes during this test, after a strong second half of 2009 he surely is one of the favourits for next year. If he can stay at I-sport or maybe move to Barwa then that would be good for him.

Do Eurosport have the rights to GP2 Asia? They have nothing scheduled for Saturday 31st October.

They normally show it and judging by how late the England-Ukraine BBC highlights deal was done yesterday, I would imagine Martin Haven will pop up anytime soon to confirm!

So I've lost track whos running in the Asia series this year! So far I can remember:
ART - Bianchi Super Nova - Jakes (with Teixeira ominously testing for a couple of days last week?) Addax - Chilton Trident - The Bulgarian sportscar driver whose name escapes me - Plamev or something?? Those chaps aside I'm struggling to think of any! And they start testing in a couple of weeks! |

Plamen Kralev. His first name even contains the word "lame" :P
Anyone knows which Asian drivers might show up? Maybe guys like Fauzy or rather guys like Nai Chia Chen? And what happened to Hamad Al Fardan? |

Basil Shaaban is hoping to race in GP2 Asia, not sure with which team.

Btw, the press release from Kralev was coming from his PR, not from Trident and there's not a single word about him on their site.

Standard 10- I suggest you speak English because none of that makes sense. What are your views on this years GP2 Asia championship, by the way?

STANDARD 10, why do you think people reading a thread about GP2 and GP2 Asia are the people who are going to be ripped off by this supposed scammer? Start your own thread or post in the Grand Prix Shootout thread if it's about that:
http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118388 It's basic netiquette to keep posts on-topic. If what you attempt to communicate is true, it sounds like we may have another Payton Tapp Watkins on our hands! |

Back to topic: Basil Shabaan is an interesting name, he's surely no frontrunner but his season in F3 was not so bad in a high quality field. He's from Asia, he seems to have the money, and he seems to have the skill to beat at least Nai Chia Chen and Teixeira so I think he'd be a good addition to the field.
But the more important news, Oliver Turvey has signed with iSport for Main and Asia series! http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/79421 Good choice for both sides, Turvey is talented and iSport is good. Let's see who gets the second main series seat - will they sign two rookies again with Ericsson and Turvey? |

Just stumbled upon this on wikipedia: Marcus Ericsson to drive for ART in GP2 Asia 09-10
It cites Autosport as reference but I can't find anything to confirm it. Hopefully it's true since it would be awesome seeing Ericsson and Bianchi go head to head in the same team! |

Autosport magazine says 'Japanese Formula 3 champion Marcus Ericsson will race for the crack ART squad in the opening round of GP2 Asia in Abu Dhabi on October 31'
Also Jules Bianchi 'will compete in two GP2 Asia rounds, the second Abu Dhabi event and the Bahrain Formula 1 support race' So rather than head to head, maybe sharing the seat? |

Stupid mistake by Ericsson. ART will be 100% behind Bianchi, he French, driven with them in F3 and managed by Nicolas Todt.
I don't know why everyone assumes ART have the quickest car. They have one of the best but the reason for their success is the F3 team. The F3 team is so good all the best driver's want to drive for them. Once they have done that its a natural progression to the GP2 team. ART are fantastic at getting the best drivers racing for them and that is why they are so good. I think Ericsson would be just as good with Racing Engineering, Barwa or iSport. Plus with one of those he won't be No2 driver to Bianchi. |

They're likely to be more keen on Jules but I don't think they'll treat Marcus as an afterthought. There might be trouble in the main series if Marcus stays with ART but that's not a certainty, he could still end up somewhere else by then. |
