Is there a real possibility at this point that the entry list could be as low as 19? 2 less ganassi, 1 less penske, no new teams confirmed for full season that I know of. The Chilton 2 car team hasn't been confirmed, has it? Under 20 cars would be a bad look.

If it's any consolation, F1 currently has a field of 20 cars.

Rahal added a second full-time car for Sato.

Including the unconfirmed Foyt, Coyne and Carpenter drivers, Wikipedia's list has 20 full-time entries.

Agreed, it is too early. The teams don't start testing the new aero-kit until January. I would expect that's when all teams will have confirmed their drivers.

Not the best team for a rookie to go to, but good for him. Foyt wants to restart again after just restarting last year? Wasn't happy with 2 young drivers and kicked them to the curb, so now he'll try a 19 year old? Not so sure he is making great decisions, but ok.

I believe he quit in a hissy fit a few years ago after admins kept merging his Danica threads to general threads (rightfully so). I miss him partially.

Carlin confirmed as a two-car team for Chilton and Kimball. (it’s on Autosport and am sure it will be in other media soon).

Bit of an open secret, but great to see another two cars confirmed on the grid

There is an interesting piece on Autosport on Carlin today, with one paragraph that caught my eye:

“It's no surprise that smaller outfits such as Carlin - with a further two expected to join in 2018 - can make the step up”

Is this referring to Harding and Juncos, or does this insinuate this there are potentially another couple of entries in the pipeline?
