So no more Nando means Vandoorne's chances have significantly increased so at best, it's between Vandoorne, Sainz and Norris for 2019.

Gasly to RBR and Sainz to McLaren? Everyone could be a winner if that happened

Now all we need is Kimi moving to make it a hat-track.

Nice to see Gasly get promoted, hopefully he can take the fight to Max. So if we have Hartley with either Buemi or Vergne, then suddenly STR will become the senior team!

So Helmut Marko does not understand Ricciardo's decision to join the Renault.
How could anybody be surprised? |

Kimi is set to sign a two year contract with Ferrari until the end of 2020. This is great news for Liberty as they realize it would be their demise to lose their uber popular driver and number one spokesperson from the F1 grid.

If this is true, it’s a very disappointing decision by Ferrari. Kimi’s best days are clearly behind him. They need Leclerc in that seat.

I read about his signing this morning. I can’t find the source, but whatever you read on the internet is almost always true.

no doubt Leclerc is good, maybe great one day, but after half a season is he really ready or deserving of one of the 4 best seats in F1?
granted Kimi is getting older and no doubt his best races are behind him i do think he is driving better this year vs last year and is still getting the job/points Ferrari require from their 2nd seat. and with a couple of years of the current rule set left and Ferrari on the uptick, going with experience, to me as a biased fan of kimi, seems like the right, all be it conservative, way to go. i do wonder what Marchionne would have done though. |

I wouldn’t say that Leclerc is the finished article yet, not by a long way, but he’ll learn more and more quickly at Ferrari than he will at Sauber.
I think Marchionne would have pushed for his promotion; he was instrumental in getting Leclerc to Sauber and in arranging the Alfa deal. |

I hope Leclerc goes to Ferrari in place of Kimi. It’s time to look to the future

Probably better for Leclerc to have another year in a Sauber or Haas.
Look what happened with Perez, Kovalainen, even Magnussen when promoted too soon. Actually, just don't join McLaren it seems! In other news, JEV appears to have been approached by an F1 team. I wonder who.... https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/v...-2019/3161361/ |
