More good info.

How did they come to the conclusion that having no track limits was a good idea? It looks comical and frankly unprofessional.

I've never seen anything like it in real life, the closest thing I can compare it to is those bogus hot laps done on video games where the quickest times are done by using the same generous amount of run off.

Who'd think you could get rose tinted glasses over something as mundane as having gravel traps...

Come on Fisichella, get me those extra FRC points!

Dang, 2nd it is. But 2nd, 1st, 2nd & 8th plus 9/12 pole points is pretty good for me...

What a ridiculous final turn 19 line taken by the DP to maintain 3rd place.

What a close 2nd place finish for risi which was practically non existing all race, nice podium bounce back for falken after losing position in the pits.wierd to see both Porsche's come in and give up the win,not even trying to strech at least one to the finish.

The gtd viper is still looking good and winning.

The rest of the race was sloppier than any other race I can remember, almost embarrassing to call this a pro sport.dont expect '17 to be any better,it will still be the same group of drivers with the same style of aggressive driving.

On a good note the penalties were consistent for the incidents we saw, just hope there wasn't any that the broadcast didn't catch that went unpunished.

Have the ET changed from yesterday to today? I missed the race because of miscalculating the starting time

Did you look at the local TX time and think it was ET?

And on the track limits: so the course was defined by the apexes of the corners, like alpine skiing gates, instead of white lines painted on asphalt, but it was the same for everyone. The practical difference is that it was harder to block or shove off someone on corner exit while racing them to the next apex. Oh, the humanity?

That picture is great because it shows how the Ligier got blocked there. But then I realized ask that action was track adjacent! ROFL.

I like the way the series choose not to enforce track limits. That is what happens when you page everything. If you want to define the edge of the track, do it with something other than a painted line!

I'm still for marking the boundaries with piñatas filled with powdered paint in pink, yellow and orange paints, for example. If the drivers cut a corner or go off-roading like in the photo, then they will hit one of these. It probably won't hurt the car but will leave obvious evidence of who the violators are. Plus, it would be quite a show. In the rain, it could be an active art project.

I've always been a fan of spike strips. I suspect motorcyclists might not be a fan though...

Bury transponder lines in arcs on the apexes of the corners at intervals apart. Then the farther you go off the more it cuts back the engine. It could be regulated/activated by a transponder line buried in the track after the corners in order to not cause any issues with recovery by the driver of a car in trouble.

First, WEC manages it by having a sufficient crew of officials to monitor the monitors, plus very precise GPS on each car. The technology is not lacking, TUSC just won't pay for it. American exceptionalism I guess ...

Second, the MSR #60 driver simply blew it in traffic. I really wanted him (Oz Negri, I believe—a seasoned veteran, if so) to either cut way inside and then shoot back around on the other side, or to cut between the DP and the GTD Audi. However, the MSR Ligier driver misjudged and got himself balked. He knew the Audi was there and would possibly be a problem, but he timed everything wrong, or maybe couldn't make up his mind which way to go until too late.

Cost him a podium.

No reason to buy it all for one race of the year.

Every other track they go to you're going to pay for it if you go off track.
