Just noticed the Intersport team still has the Strategic Air sponsorship, but no Ducote listed on the car.

Hindy keeps saying the P2 cars are lighter and more nimble, but I thought they weighed the same this year?

No. The P1s are at 900kg for ALMS. P2s are 825kg. They originally were 775kg, then 800kg in 2008, and they've brought them up to full ACO P2 spec weight for this season.

P-2s are at 850kg instead of the ACO/LMS 900kg per IMSA Bulletin #09-01 L.P. |

Edit: That being said, the series needs to be more team friendly. Sadly, at the moment a "quality field" is based on the money invested. I think we can all agree that this needs change. The issue is that when the big-budget factory teams do arrive, they want to be able to outspend their opponents to win. |

isn't that the "problem" with virtually EVERY racing series. The guys with the serious backing do better than the guys without it. Making the cars go faster, and just making these top-line sportscars, costs a fair chunk of change. And lately, aside from Lola, that has been down to the manufacturers, either through works efforts, or approving models for homologation for customer use. You run into the spending issue even in spec series.
We want privateers to not be driven out, but they aren't normally the ones to move the bar forward. They don't make the cars. They don't provide the great majority of the capital needed to promote and market the series to any real level of notoriety. Serpent, I'm just wondering what you would honestly have in mind to do. |

Honestly, why don't you all take this conversation out of the race thread and have it in the ALMS season thread! L.P. |

I think one of the biggest stories of the race tomorrow is handling the disparity in speeds and traffic. With the GT3s added the transition from No Name to the uphill, which caused so many issues last year will be even more of a challenge. GT3s and other Gts will have to watch their mirrors and the prototypes will have to exercise a great deal of patience. Dual responsibility for sure.

To keep the forum police happy... I also agree with you that the race this weekend should be a good one. GT2 has the potential to be especially close! |

Gotta be disappointing for Acura. One year later, new LMP1 car, and they're 3 tenths slower than last years car. At least they beat the R10's time.
It's been shown that P2 has been effectively neutered, the 09 is Acura is 1.6s slower than the 08 variant. I think the proto racing should be fairly interesting as well (if you ignore the different classes). Hopefully Jon Field will put on a show for us. |

^ With Ducote gone, I think we now get the chance to see what Intersport can really do.

Does anyone have an alternative link for RLM. I am on Mac but have been able to listen for years. Now it does not work. Thanks.
