The ruling said it was larger than 85mm, by how much was it larger?

Clean start as Bottas leads. Verstappen took an off track excursion avoiding Sainz, who goes to second. Verstappen third. Hamilton is 14th.

Not sure why anyone is surprised that Hamilton did well, Mercedes have a huge advantage here as shown in qualifying. I had a feeling that deep into the top 10 was possible, especially with the Senna S opportunity. All Lewis had to do was keep it clean which he did, good run out for him. Poor show by Perez who was miles behind Bottas and Max

Team radio - Mercedes to Hamilton
Pete Bonnington: "Lewis, just make sure you don't touch any other cars or check them out in any way." |

That was an excellent 24 laps. Hamilton showed not just the car advantage, but his own skill especially overtaking Norris.
Position 6 by L1T1 tomorrow? |

Hamilton's drive must be up for session of the season by any driver?

Good stuff by Sainz. The McLaren / Ferrari battle for 3rd in the WCC is so close at the moment.
Best sprint race so far. With Hamilton starting mid pack, if things are clean I would expect him to be up to 5th again within a few laps, and then it will be interesting to see what he can do from there. |

I might be completely wrong here, but I think that they all get extra tyres for the sprint race, and the special allocation is then taken back after the race, so there would be no reason to save their tyres for the Sunday full length race. |

Why would a driver sacrifice his own race, and risk not finishing, when he was about to be passed by a much faster car.
Surely it is better to finish the sprint session in your "proper" position than go off and risk damaging the car and having to start the main race from the back. |

Great win by Bottas. Took the lead off the start, the opposite of 2017 when he lost the race on pole due to a slow start. Be interesting to see what kind of tactics Merc will have for him to try and help Lewis. But it seems Bottas is driving even better now he's been given his marching orders
Great drive by Lewis, although he has to give some back due to his penalty. Now how is he gonna his clash with Max? But certainly Checo's comments do indicate that for the most part, sprint races are a waste of time |

The people in the grandstands weren't acting like it was a waste of their time.
