peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
isnt that because its the fastest lap ever completed around the track. plus

i think its good that we can talk in terms of both now
we have the top ten shoot out which creates a lap formula

just out of interest marshalls lap record at winton this year was quicker than the fastest qualifying lap

V8 Supercars have the fastest ever laps at several circuits they go to, but the qualifying laps don't get that level of recogntion there either. Qualifying laps are (almost) always are faster than the racing laps. The Winton situation was created purely by the use of the 'Option' tyre. In the past laps recorded by guys like George Fury in 1984 got some recognition, and a qualifying lap held the title of fastest ever lap prior to Murphy's lap, but there was never this level of fascination with any form of qualifying lap previously.

No, the Murphy lap getting this level of recognition is globally unique.

And ummm... I'm not sure about your English. A lap formula?

Your right Falc, but at the time it was such an outstanding lap by a guy then at his peak with little time to truly warm the gear that it has become legend. Unfortunately the guy will never repeat it and sooner or later it will pass into history. Despite the ammunition he had that wasn't available to anyone else it was still an outstanding lap.

no doubt it was a great lap, yes he had alot of things in his favour but he still did a great job. so with that said it will take a great lap to break the record. when it is broken would it carry the same status, would we see people come out of their boxes to applaud a great lap, will people talk about it for ages?

Please pm the stream just in case this post gets lost close to race day.

So Far The Poll is Looking Good. #17 and #888 seem to be the fav fan picks for the big day. Fingers Crossed for DJR to return to the top step at the mountain. In saying that it would also be good to see lowndes and whincup make history with a 4 peat before they cross over.

Check out his link, it is not a free service and I have had no experience with it but might be worth the US$4 for the 4 day trial to watch Bathurst.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Just looked at CH7 telecast times and they are

Friday 1pm to 4pm
Saturday 12 Noon to 5 pm
Sunday 7am to 6pm

Plus there is a Battle to BATHURST from 6am to 7am on Sunday morning.

She was one beautiful engine that even after control parts came in was probably still the best in the fleet.

I believe the engine had very light crankshaft, pistons, rods etc. The very low rotating mass enabled the engine to rev more freely enabling rapid acceleration to the 7,500 rpm limit. I'm also told that engine was good for about 4 or 5 laps and then into the bin!

I was in the paddock when Murph did that lap and everyone was gobsmacked, let's not forget how much quicker that lap was than any other lap that had ever been done before. That's half the reason the lap was so awesome, because in a tightly controlled category where parity is everything, one guy in one car manged to blow everyone away by a staggering margin. That hasn't happened since Group C & A days.

I actually dropped past to say hello that day David but only found a mere shadow of yourself hanging on the wall.

Looks Here like the GRM lead car for Holdsworth/Caruso will be #34...

The entry list doesnt have it that way...

Its still not a pretty car, and wastes all that space with #34 on the door
