as it was today on the q and a, they posted a positive message about the discussions with Chesson, so it appears I was wrong, unlike some, i'm sure i'll get over that!

was Matos champion back then?? erm, nope! he is champion now, so he clearly is a talent, do you follow that logic?
Actually he was won multiple championships before Atlantics, so he wasn't any good then?

Whatever the case all the best to him and I wish him well on his new endeavors.

He won the Atlantic championship last August. But now only in late January is he all of a sudden 'US racing's newest star'. That is what doesnt add up.

Nice cat.

Let it go, Stradlin! When others can't refute what you write, then they will try to negate you personally...

...on topic...I will be curious to see if he takes to the IPS cars as quickly as he did with the Star Mazda cars in '04...he was quick right out of the box.

my 2 year old son calls him Carpet becuase he looks like a carpet I guess

Matos was quick to adjust to IPS cars at St Pete, i see no reason why he can't be on the money straight away

No quite, He'll probably dominate IPS, we all know how strong the atlantics field is, especially as the IPS ladder system seems to be working and everyone is moving up to the IRL it's now less competitive.

shame that the proper series is far lower! no good having a great feeder series if you feed them to Indycar

which has far greater talent then Champ Car

It's a real shame you have to bring up CC again and try to create a war between CC and IRL 'oh my series is better than yours'. Many have moved on since 1996.

so, hold on

If the Atlantic series is really as brilliant as luke and mountain say it is

Then Matos must be a driver of supreme talent to have won it....

So that just shows how impossible it is to get a drive in champ car unless you have tonnes of cash

Pay drivers must rule the series and the drivers with real talent don't get a look in

a sorry sorry situation i'll think you'll agree

For someone that doesn't spend any time at race tracks in the usa and/or working with racing drivers you sure seem to be the expert.

OK, I'll bite!

Since when is this a requirement to form or state an opinion? Even such direct knowledge only allows one to form an opinion with more data.

I don't spend any time at race tracks in Europe, yet I have managed to formulate an opinion on assorted drivers there which at various times have been supported or rebutted by people with more direct knowledge than my own.

If the opinions given here are of such inferior quality, why would one waste their time posting on a forum where such direct knowledge is not a requirement for membership?

Indeed, it would seem that the investors and backers of this site have perhaps misplaced their energies seeing as how they are only facilitating the dissemination of poorly-formed opinions.

Good post John

I guess that 90% of the board shouldn't post here then by what he is saying....

very very ill post

I've been too many races in my home country of England, mostly at Croft to see F3 and BTCC, been to 2 F1 GP's at Silvestone 98, 99 although i'm no longer an F1 fan, been to Brands Hatch, Donnington many times as well

not so much nowadays because I have a wife and young child, a life in other words

I've been to states to see one race but have a few good contacts over there, one that works for an IRL team

i do believe that i have valid opinions but if you think I don't then that is your problem, not mine matey

would i want to get to more races in the states? well, of course! and i'd like to go down under to see a V8 Supercars race

but am i willing to put long haul motorsport trips ahead of family time? no

i think that adds up
