So if it rains on Sunday, like it did in 1999, make sure you get a viewing position that won't get completely obscured by a sea of brollies. Unbelievably irritating - I missed some of Grant Williams antics as a result! I reckon that those with brollies are not regular race going enthusiasts whereas those more 'considerate', wearing oilskins etc with hoods are!

What is a poodle skirt?
As I'll be there Sat and Sun perhaps I might find out. I could try by asking every attractive lady "Is that a poodle skirt you are wearing?". But as they will probably have beefy escorts perhaps I'd better just watch the racing. cheers Duncan |

Great to see Suzy (the poodle skirt looked brilliant as did the pink ribbon in your hair), TimD and Bluebottle. Thank goodness it didn't rain in the end!
Great weekend all round until those buggers demolished my wall during the last two races |

It was good fun wasn't it? Lovely to see you Stephen - mind you, the wall stayed up for far longer than I thought it would. Especially when Frank Sydner decided on Saturday afternoon that he'd quite like to watch the race from the banking on the wrong side of the chicane - whilst still in his car!!! Cue lots of marshal's running for cover.
Little Ellie (Toddler-Bottle) enjoyed a lot of the races - but her knowledge of aeroplanes is remarkable too. I'm so tired - Tim and I didn't get back until 11.10pm!!! We were helping a chap and his heavily-pregnant damsel in distress on the Sussex/Surrey border when their naughty mini refused to go any further. Hope they got to Hull okay. |

It was me that ran to Mr Sytner after his excursion at our post. A quick three point turn in the escape lane and bingo, he was back on the track!

And it was Ernie Nagamatsu who hit the wall, for the second year running! He's now debating whether to return next year on the basis of third time lucky!
I also had a fabulaous weekend, even if I didn't get to see much of the track action. There was so much to see, so many people to talk to in the paddock!!!! And I only got evicted out of parc fermé/assembly areas twice this year!!!!!!!! Steve PS I found out that Win Percy is in quite a bad way with his back after doing something nasty to it whilst gardening. He's had one op already and is looking to have a second one to clear out lots of rubish, etc. He is due to move hospitals shortly (currently is in Dorchester and is believed to be moving to Salisbury), and could do with lots of messages to keep his spirits up. Therefore, look back at this link in a couple of days and I will then have confirmed details of where he will be. |

Ahhh I have to admit to giving two ladies a flowerpot each. Could they have been the ones you saw?

I saw you racing Fan. We were on the exit of St Mary's going towards whatever that corner is leading onto the long straight (I'd never been to Goodwood so I'm not sure what it's called). But you were pointing in the right direction every time you went past us. I like your car too.
Stephen: they may have been the ones you saw. Poor red flowers - at least some of them have got a good home. The others have been squashed. Last edited by Suzy; 8 Sep 2003 at 12:48. |

Well, I know Ernie was presented with one, to continue the tradition of having a plant over to anyone who hits the wall. So now he has a lovely pair! Stephen, I'm led to believe you were using period black boots instead of the famous red trainers? Find any performance difference? :-) |

Actually Steve it was the period (1990's) white trainers. I didn't think His Lordship would take too kindly to the red ones, especially at the chicane However, performance wise they both worked the same, both red and white pairs being Nike. Maybe I should see if they want to sponsor me for the future???

Did any Tenth-Tenthers see me get clobbered by the C-type when I was lapping it at Lavant?

Lordy, all these drivers and I didn't get to meet one of you *sulks*. However, we did give you all a wave as you passed by us at the chicane

Stephen, you and all your fellow marshals are welcome at any time. Just drop by the motorhome for a beer and a chat. Please don't all arrive at once though, or there'll be nothing left for us.
BTW, in addition to the errant C-type, the brakes were seized on solid for the last two laps, which is why I got out-dragged over the line. |
