I think it took them 10mins give or take to replace that driveshaft. One to remember for later in the season perhaps.

Wouldn't be the first time an FIA part (is it an FIA part?) screwed over a Toyota though, that "Lucky 7" no less. |

I am not sure how big these components that the FIA uses to collect this data, but peharps they should have a back up device that can provide that data in case the other component is not working! I feel like bring a team in just to check or replace is not fair to the team, especially if the issue is not related to any part of the car/team that belongs to them.

Is there a reason why tyres always go on last?
Historically it used to be like that as they had tyre warmers so it made sense to keep heat in em as long as possible. But now they’re not warmed anymore, i’m thinking it would be beneficial to first do tyres and have the hot brakes heat em up a bit while the rest of the stop is being done. |

It feels like the ferrari struggling to turn the tires on , but are quite efficient towards the end of stint. They seem to lose out first half of the stint to Toyota but manage to stabilise the gap and even make inroads towards the end of the stint.

Why dont the top class cars ever actually race wheel to wheel with each other like in LMP2? I thought that was the whole point of the BOP?

Listening on RLM, and I am still not used to having Ferrari and Porsche battling in prototypes. Every time they mention a ferrari and porsche on track my mind is picturing a gt!

That is because the BOP rules allow for close racing while maintaining the individuality of each entry, while LMP2 is a spec category from chassis to engine to even tires. It's why it's more about teams and drivers than the machinery.

Also, the LMP2's at this point are super refined/developed endurance cars |

It’s not really BOP in hypercar - it’s more BOPP (Balance of Potential Performance).
Took Toyota five hours to lap the field today, around a shorter track than Sebring where they lapped everyone twice in 8 hours. It does feel like everyone is closer to them in race pace. Peugeot have taken a massive leap forward. |

Vanwall with its customary fire, but it was the front right brake, rather than the engine.

strange pit closing sequence with that incident. Toyota ends up having to wait and now is Ferrari back on lead lap? or no, now that Ferrari pits with Porsche.

Hartley is flying with no traffic ahead of him, consistently in the 1:32s
he is about to lap one of the Ferraris again. |
