Is the number of pitboxes at the moment the reason for a limited grid size?
I know a few years ago it was limited by the number of airplanes for the overseas races. Maybe, if there are really that much potential entries, they can get an extra plane. Let's get back to the pre-WEC 40+ cars grid |

So since it is back on the schedule for 2022 you do what exactly? Refund the teams at the bottom of the table since they can't fit? You have to plan for the schedule you have and if that's the restriction then you're stuck with it. Or you write off Fuiji for now and when it returns deal with the LMP2s you're cutting then but they want Toyota to be happy and it's on the announced schedule again. It hasn't been cut yet

Wonder if that would push any to consider IMSA as they have a bit more set of a schedule and much less border crossing. But then the government here spins the wheel of regs often too so who knows. |

The full season entry numbers:
2015 - 35 2016 - 32 2017 - 28 2018/2019 - 36 2019/2020 - 33 2021 - 33 Fuji was on the schedule all these years (but the 2021 round was cancelled as result of the pandemic). This would suggest 36 is possible but more seems unlikely. Let's hope the '2-car-1-pitbox-GTE-Am-rule' gets introduced. |

Clearly there is a bit of concern from some teams about whether their season entry will be accepted.
Car Guy submitted their entry early after registrations opened on Dec 1, but Kimura reckons their chances are 50/50. https://www.endurance-info.com/auto/...la-saison-2022 |

Nice to see him back in WEC. Third driver to be announced later this week. |

Would love to see them go back to the days where they announced WEC, Le Mans, and ELMS entry list on same day. It was like sportscar's equivilant to the day of the FIFA World Cup draw, or FA Cup draw, or NCAA tournament brackets being revealed, or american pro sports leagues drafts. Will have to schedule it a few weeks after the end of the condensed AsLMS series.

Maybe 2023 is the time to bring it back, especially when selection criteria will be a lot tougher. From a '22 perspective - Alex Lynn is the final driver at UA. That is a stacked two-car lineup. A lot of eyes, and thus pressure, will be on the young shoulders of Josh Pierson. https://www.dailysportscar.com/2021/...wec-squad.html |

Some more small adjustments to LMP2 for 2022.
8kW power reduction, partly from use of renewable fuel, partly from air inlet restrictor. Diffuser and rear wing changes. Reduced fuel tank size. Possible changes to drive times because of resulting changes to stint lengths. https://www.dailysportscar.com/2021/...-for-2022.html |

To be fair, I think he said, "Here's my ass".
But I imagine a lot of competing manufacturers would nevertheless gladly have his ass, as soon as his contract runs out. |

final exhibition aside, jani was a quite disappointing porsche driver both in formula e and this year in gte, it's not a big suprise seeing porsche dropping him out.
I however hope to see him back in 2023 WEC porsche lmdh program, he was the fastest 919 driver afterall. |

motorsport is all about results, that's why to see jani dropped out from WEC GT program is everything but surprising, and yeah I hope he will however keep on being a porsche driver since is clear that prototypes are his cup of tea. |

He is still a Porsche driver. The end of year press release mentioned him as a reserve for Formula E. Thrilling.

It just seemed strange to judge a driver for something he doesn't normally do, when you're re-entering an arena that they're an expert in. Like, if you had Usain Bolt in your sprint relay team, and then you stop doing sprint relays and started doing 10k relays. He wouldn't be very good, and then drop him just before you enter a sprint relay again. Though, as mentioned above, I suppose he's not been completely dropped by Porsche, so they're keeping him around, presumably for the upcoming LMDH entry. |

Question is will he be running the lmdh car in IMSA or WEC, or both? I don't know how Porsche will be placing the drivers within the program, or how much the calendars will allow a single driver to do both series.

Well they are pestering me about tickets!
Nothing specific to suggest it will be cancelled at this point. Daytona still on too. There is always the possibility, but I’d assume that it is on at the moment. And I suppose there is a chance the WEC bit is lost. With the other WEC races they could postpone if there were, say, travel issues, but this one either happens at the same time as the IMSA race or not. |
