It had better be fast and reliable out of the box, Vitaphone have got the funds to get any machine and they'd probably go for the best car that they can acquire.

Well it appears Vitaphone will be using the MC12 for another year...(see other thread on FIA GT).
Now could they get the MC12 to Le Mans by arguing that by the time LM comes around it will be a fully legal FIA GT1 car....neatly circumventing the ACO? |

No. The ACO would still have to homologate the car - if there even is a GT1 class at LM next year.

in all fairness .. at least 2 MC12 vs 2 DBR9 vs 2 Corvette in GT1 @ LM2010 wouldn't be that bad

Well, with the apparent favoritism FOR the Maserati from SRO, I'm sure they'll have no problem with that.

the 458 Italia will be available for all the privateers from the begening, or for Risi and AF Corse, the closest teams to Ferrari ?

All the teams that buy it, I guess, since Dominik Farnbacher was talking about running the car from the start of next season in his interview on RLM during scrutineering.

Considering how many teams, whether it be in ALMS, LMS, GT Open, Italian GT or whatever, run this car, you can almost be certain that orders will be through the roof.

Ferrari F458 Italia GT2
So what does everyone think about this. the road car looks amazing.
1.Is it going to raise the bar in GT2 2.Will it run away with the GT2 title 3. Anybody seen any pictures For sure it will raise the bar in GT2 and i think it will raise the bar. I also think risi competizione are going to play a game of cat and mouse up until lemans. they won't shw the true speed of the car and they won't reveal the fuel economy of the directinjected engine until lemans. they want to surprise everyone. They may lay low in qualifying for sebring and let the BMW's have at it. then turn it up only when needed during the race. |

I have to imagine there might be some early season teething issues, but the 458 is an absolutely spectacular road car and I can't imagine the GT2 car not being s BIG improvement over the already stellar 430.
I'm pretty interested to see if those flexible downforce creating winglets in the nose will show up on the race car, or if they're even legal. This is obviously just a photoshop, but this is probably pretty close to what you can expect to see on the GT2 car. |

Oh my, stunning!
There was a rumour at Petit that Risi will be the exclusive North American distributor for the car and all the spares like Haas and Lola are/were. Dave Simms would not comment on it... I think the car will raise the game, Michelotto know what they're doing and both Porsche and Corvette will not be developing that much. They will have evolutions, the 458 is completely new platform. |
