Kristensen joining Champion for Sebring and Le Mans would be a huge boost for Dave Maraj's squad. Lehto/Werner/Kristensen or Herbert/Pirro/Kristensen would be a very strong line-up indeed. Le Mans win no. 7?

It is confirmed today by Infocourse that the french newspaper AutoHebdo mentions seriously a "big deal to come" for Oreca in 2005, with "the car that matchs for the overall win"...

And this is confirmed on Jérôme Mugnier's Virages via the french TV : "Oreca and Hugues de Chaunac could be on the verge to sign a great deal. An agreement is on its way to claim the overall victory at LM".

And Alain Prost could be interrested : he was waiting for a "serious porject"...

Check the Oreca website on time... for now, NOTHING is confirmed yet.

Oreca + Audi France + Prost = ?

Audi has been very absent in Dutch racing scene. Although the Pon import has a history in racing (and one of the best VAG car collections in the world) they are not that concerned about Audi racing.

Prost Oreca Audi deal would be very nice! Champion will have its hands full!

According to Ouest france, Prost still refuses to drive at LM, but could be implicated in team managing...

... I let you imagine a fight between Prost and Pescarolo !!!

Allan McNish seems to be indicating on autosport.com that he won't be at La Sarthe next year, but will concentrate on his DTM commitments. If true, a great shame.

Let's hope Kristensen and Capello don't make the same decision. It would also be nice to see Kaffer at Le Mans in 2005.

I hope mcNish changes his mind. Super nice guy and excellent sportscar driver and after his misfortune this year I was hoping for a LM comeback this year.

I would think the elite Audi drivers will be back in 2006 with the R9/10.

2005, IMO, is going to be the toughest year yet for the R8s.

But we also may see some new guns to (like Kaffer). Biela and Pirro certainly did not impress in the DTM this season. So I question if we would see them as factory drivers for the new Audi LMP.

Just an observation:

Funny how the remarks around Audi are so positive right now given the many negative comments that the subject of Audi can usually generate (ie. people do not like how Audi runs their customer program, the car is too good, too many race wins, no chance for the little guys, etc.). Currently we have three threads devoted to Audi and they are also mentioned a lot in the ALMS and LMES entry threads.

Whether you like them, or dislike them, their presence legitimizes the championship or race that they are participating in.

Absolutely jhansen, agree 100%. Love them or hate them, you have to appreciate what Audi has done.

Maybe due to the fact that they appear less strong than they were last years...

And let's admit it : they gave a wonderful show in 2004, at LM or in LMES as well, not talking of the ALMS battle with the Lolas and the Zytek.

I won't forget the Audi wreckage at 6pm (we were watching the Dunlop big screen with Ayse) this year... and the GTs sandwiches the Veloqx cars showed in LMES...

Like it or not : this car will be a legend, and I'll be proud later to say "I've been there in the pitlane to touch those beauties"...

... and for the threads... huh... my mistake, he ?

I am happy that Audi is dedicated to sportscar racing and LM I think that thats good for the sport and the racing. Its a beautiful racecar although not spectacular (depends a bit on who is driving) The R8 is a legend, totally agree with Fab. Maybe even in the ranks of 917,Gt40, 956/62 and we were there to see m race and win.

Thats not how the numbering system works
R is the racing designation, 8 is the engine size

Ayse - there will come a day when even you look back at the R8 with a great sense of wonder and nostalgia. You might even show dig out you 996 GT3 photo album...

I have just seen over on DSC that Champion have have been testing at Sebring this week. They have been running 2 cars, but the article says that there is a hint that the team might have a 3rd car (the ebay one?) at the ALMS test session in late-January.
