But then they switch to 7Mate in NSW, Vic and SA! If less than say 3 laps till end of advertised distance they should just run to the end rather than finishing it early.

Is V8 Supercars a professional sport, not so judging from this weekend's effort.
Fiddling with race formats (again), announcements on overseas races (why do they persist with this?) and new 2015 TV deal, running out of time to complete the main race, ridiculous restart procedures, rule enforcement issues and very poor TV direction. RBRA are probably at a disadvantage to other teams due to their high profile. Their pitstops are usually on camera so any errors are shown. Should penalties be applied based off TV commentary or should it be up to the local official. I bet that other car controllers touched their cars during the race and just did not get caught. The TV coverage was crap, too many talking heads (interviews). |

Two things:
(1) Brad Jones talking about expensive repairs - don't they have insurance for these sorts of incidents? Sure the excess may be a bit, but he shouldn't be bearing the full cost. (2) Any chance Brighty will be asked to take a break? 2 big hits (incl. concussion at B12Hr) in very quick succession aren't good for long term mental health. |

I was talking to someone concerning the 12 hour hit and there is a lot of unhappiness surrounding that. There was some surprise at how he survived the accident after they reviewed the in car video footage.

Question, Are their marshal's who are judges of fact in the pitlane or do they just rely on the TV coverage ? From recent history I seem to think they just rely on the coverage.

how come that it can be explained multiple times on tv over the years that the car controllers job is to control the car and to not work on the car, But Roland is not aware of this rule

Also, I think it's about time the first turn chicane at Adelaide is removed...it just causes massive issues year after year.
What's stopping them from making T1 a big sweeper up onto Wakefield? |

They're probably worried it wouldn't look as cool on TV. You know, because that's more important than driver safety and all.

isnt it about slowing the cars, because they would be going to quick at the next corner?

Damien White's explanation on the restart penalties was a bit vague. 'We have radar [as a tool]' but didn't say they were actually caught at speeds of 'xx' & 'xx' by a radar gun before the acceleration zone. And then went on to say it looked obvious because a gap appeared from 2nd to 3rd. They may have crept up past 60km/h but they need actual proof (not appearance) - has anyone seen this?
And on the last restart there were a couple of cars that broke the straight line before the front car accelerated (from what I saw - rewind, watch again, so pretty sure), I think it was Rusty who lunged right which then triggered Frosty who quite obviously moved out of line. Didn't see any penalties there. And Whincup's finger of god is a joke. Easy to argue no 'work' was done there. Adding the slow restarts, three square pegs into one round hole, make for entertaining viewing. So if that was wanted above safety and fair competition then they are getting what they want. A little concerning but it was good viewing. |

Yeah, I was hoping for a bit more clarity around those penalties too, such as looking at the data traces from each car, SVG was doing 68kph before the AZ etc. Not "oh well, there was a bigger gap than there had been, so they must have been going faster".
