Money, Money, Money that's all it's about in F1 these days. But I don't think Sauber wouldn't pay there bills because there a developed team with lots of money from past seasons. As for Hulkenberg leaving if Ferrari fires Massa if that happens I'll be really because honestly Massa is faster than Hulkenberg but of course then haven't been in the same tier of car so it's hard to tell.

exactly the same thing is happening with the lotus/infinity deal. it's pretty obvious that lotus issued the press release to force the hand of the investors and to try and restore morale etc, but are still debating the semantics. i suspect the same is happening with sauber. issuing the press releases saying that it was done placated the suppliers who were owed money, and didn't do anyone involved in the discussions any harm. nothing is signed yet in either case, from what i can tell from decent sources.

The flood or trickle of Russian money into F1 is worrying, how reliable will it turn out to be and how quickly will it dry up

The flood gates have opened only because of Sochi in 2014. No other reason. When that GP fades away after a couple of years on the F1 calendar, so will the Russian Rubles.

Ferrari extends it's deadline for Sauber to make due payments until end of August. Pirelli wants their money for 2013 tyres that Sauber have yet to pay for. And now it looks like the Russian deal has been called off.

Why would that be?
If Sauber were having a good year (like 2012) they would be a shoe in. No problems. But when they are dragging their chain a bit, underperforming regardless of the reasons, the potential sponsors look around a bit. Could it be there are other teams making the Russians an offer...? |

i think if the russians were going to invest in any team and thus any country it would be sauber in switzerland though. i would imagine that compared to the uk relatively few questions would be asked in the tax department and given the fact that russia has beef with most other governments in one way or another there aren't many other options...

as it's from pitpass, you have to wonder whose agenda is behind the wording... |

whatever happened with Sauber and Chelsea FC cross sponsorship deal?
im generally intrigued by whatever i read about Russian business so kind of curious to know how the National Institute of Aviation Technologies and its board members fit in with the Abramovich empire vis a vis Putin and Russian political intrigue. wish the Mole was still around because this sounds like a case for the Penelopes' |

CVC need a thriving 'product' to sell and if some of the circuits can't afford to host the races and the much vaunted new venues don't appear, added to some teams struggling for funding to take part, the value of the product is effected. |

... which translated into layman's speak sounds like a slap on the wrist to PitPass doesn't it... ... but who's telling the truth here - is it Sauber or is it Pitpass ? All will be revealed in due course |

Is an article in Pitpass to be believed or the PR of team? I'd go with the team.

i'd take both. the actual facts - ie that the russians haven't signed a bit of paper are probably correct. but the implications, the stage of the negotiations, the overall situation and the importance of putting a name on that piece of paper are probably more likely to be correct coming from the team.

They don't seem to be short of money, on an interview with the Chelsea boss there were several adverts in the background for "Sauber F1 team", now I wonder who was paying for those
