OJB should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Mofaz Fortec signs Sten Pentus to join, I'm guessing, Fairuz Fauzy.

Shame as I thought one of the Christodoulou's would get it.

Eh? Have either of those drivers got more money to offer than the Christodoulou's?

I hope one of those kids gets a decent drive?

To be fair, whilst Fortec are a great team in FR and F3, they don't seem to have quite the same presence in WSR. My guess is the Christodoulou's are aiming for some teams with better records in the series, or possibly move to BF3 instead (although there Fortec would be a good place to be)

To be honest, I'd say yes. Fauzy has recently invested some of his own money in Fortec, hence the 'Mofaz' title in the teams' name, and Pentus has considerable backing from the Estonian company KC Grubb.

I might be proved wrong, but after seeing his testing results, I think at this stage Pentus may have slightly more money than pace.

Right ok thanks for the head's up on that WSR fan, makes more sense now.

Fauzy's quite an experienced driver now so if he wants to keep running at this level and has plenty of money to spend on it, I guess he will be relatively 'attractive' to teams.

Maybe as Sev says, Adam or Riki will find another drive or just plump for F3 instead?

I'd say he has more money than pace definately. He was a midfield-backmarker in Formula Renault UK.

after the performances showed last year in ES3000 and GP2.... I think it will now be hard for him to find a free seat... and what about his BMW F1 duties?

What BMW F1 duties? Wasn't he taken to get free few hundred extra track time? He wasn't even proper test driver! I hope he'll find a seat in Japan or somewhere in LMS cause he should not be wasting his time in junior formulae ladder... Good driver IMO, just need a proper drive and think about future.

yeah he was poor in gp2 but only took part in 3 sessions in ES3000 never even got a chance to race. I was sure he was goin to sign up for formula 2 or wsr this year but hasnt tested and theres only 4 spaces left in F2. Shame really he is much better than his gp2 results suggested.

Interwetten will continue to race in WSbR in 2009, so I am guessing they have secured their backing from Telmex.

Also, Draco will run in Force India F1 colours this season apparently... Least there will be no mistaking them from the Ultimate cars this time!

And the Portimao circuit in Portugal has been added to the 2009 schedule. It will take place over the weekend of 1/2 August, supporting the Le Mans Series (which is due to host it's first ever night race).

Here's a reminder of the full calendar:

April 18/19 - Barcelona (ESP)
May 2/3 - Spa-Francorchamps (BEL)
May 24 - Monte Carlo (MON)
June 13/14 - Hungaroring (HUN)
July 4/5 - Silverstone (GBR)
July 18/19 - Le Mans Bugatti (FRA)
August 1/2 - Portimao (POR)
September 19/20 - Nurburgring (GER)
October 24/25 - Motorland Aragon (ESP)

they've had a mini exhibition at every world series round with one of those little scale model thingies. hopefully the money isn't going to dry up with the economy.

i'm not sure they needed a circuit so close to barcelona, it's only a couple of hours on the motorway and access looks a bit irritating at the moment compared to the normal barcelona circuit.

As widely expected, Fairuz Fauzy remains with Fortec Motorsport for the 2009 season, partnering Sten Pentus:

http://www.italiaracing.net/notizia.asp?id=22230&cat=5

With two weeks to go until the first test at Jerez, only 11 of the 26 drivers have been confirmed. I guess it's a combination of the economic climate and some drivers still holding out for a possible GP2 drive.

Thanks for the information, great news. Do you have a source by any chance?

This will be interesting in Britain if British Eurosport get the F1 support races as well, they'll be showing GP2, FIA F2 and WSbR!!!
