Pick your option: 1. Toyota sandbagging ? 2. Toyota struggling for pace ? 3. [add another one if you have a suggestion] |

If T&S is correct Heidfeld and Jani just switched - lets see how close the times are.

toyota seem to be trying, their last lap times are quite quick. but i'm pretty sure they haven't yet shown their full potential.
2:01.276 for the no1 audi. edit: sarrazin has improved the time of the no8 car, but he's still 6th, with 2:02.524. |

Qualifying soon. Maybe we will see cars go below. 2:01? GTE will dip into 2:19s imo.

Just for the record, Rebellion pole las year was 2:04.234
They have already done a 2:02.305 today, that's 1.929 seconds faster. Also FP2 results are uploaded (.pdf) : - Results - Sector Times - Top Speeds |

very interesting (and good) to see the low downforce long tail r18 having the best ideal lap time of all audis (2:00.981). toyota's ideal lap is also under 2:02 (2:01.517) for the 2013 car (NOT for the 2012 one, though). and the ideal laps confirm that toyota are, as expected, faster than the rebellion lola.
also interesting that the 2013 toyota had the fastest last sector, despite the top speed advantage of the long tail audi (308 km/h vs. 303 km/h). the long tail audi has the fastest first sector though, which includes the kemmel straight, and the high-downforce audi has the fastest second sector, followed not by an audi or a toyota, but by the rebellion lola. you'd say the rebellion has a very high downforce config, yet their top speeds, especially in practice1, are very competitive with those of audi and toyota (except the le mans setup audi). |

I'm pleased, Porsche is close to its rivals. Closer than it was in the first race. I think the car is improving, and may fight to win in this race. In LMP1 expected something more from Toyota, but I suspect they're not pushing the car to its limit.
I'm quite sure P1 will break 1'59 wall, and GTe will go under 2'19. |

Looks like the Astons are grabbing pole for this one. Really think they should balance them out a little better than this.

With their incredible pace, Porsches are going to disappear from the grid. Ah ah ah! Both the cars are 6th and 7th, last and penultimate. What a wonderful performance!

well, it was pretty well known that with the old engine they will not be in position to fight for the wins... next year.

Things went a lot smoother with the dry track and the T&S actually working. I think the extended time helped and having RLM be able to follow the times made it interesting.New qualifying format may not be quite as terrible as it seemed at Silverstone.
