I don't know the drivers' points situlation off the top of my head, but if the #7 DNFs and doesn't run 70%, they won't get drivers' points.
It may or may not lock up the championship for the #8, but it'll at least def. give them a breather for LM. |

We're about to find out how fast the Toyota really is. 7 rejoins and its 4 laps down.

Well, the #7 doesn't have much to lose, given that they're out of contention for the win if the #8 doesn't have issues. But I'll bet that they'll try and see if they can get on the podium possibly.

"We're going for second" says Toyota. Which is a good illustration of the speed gap, and Toyota know it. They think they can make up at least a lap per hour.

That does depend on cautions and the weather cooperating, though. The whole LMP1 field was bunched up for a while because of weather, FCYs and strategy calls/flubs.
Toyota obviously still have a speed edge, but so far it hasn't been as big as I expected it to be. |

Sleet and Hail at the SF straight.
#8 immediately pits for full wets. Edit: Both SMPs in. Both Rebellions stay out first time around... Edit 2: Rebellion 1 pitted. 3 is waiting a lap. |

What did I post about the weather cooperating, not just with the #7 Toyota but the entire field? The weather has done just about everything but cooperate with anyone.

I do have to give it to everyone, though. Even though this race has had a weird flow to it, just about everyone has done a good job keeping it on the black stuff when things got tricky and a yellow wasn't called for.
Aside from the Kolles LMP1 getting bullied off track and one of the Dempsey Proton Porsches spinning off, there's really been no major incidents between other cars or vehicles going off track. |

Driving standards have been excellent yes. I'm enjoying this race so far, even though I took a detour to watch the W series

Well this looks fun...
Safety car! Wonder if they'll call it in 10 minutes when full points can be awarded. |

Not anymore. They're about 4-5 seconds off now, which is still bad, but they do have part-time awd.

Seeing as how there's less than an hour to go, I'm not sure if the #7 Toyota can make the podium in LMP1/overall.

The #7 will take 5th, 4th at best. He's currently a lot faster than the Rebellion a lap in front of him, but not so much with the next up SMP.

TMG claimed that if they could, they'd try for second place with the #7. But time's running out and I just don't see how they can get on the podium without quite a bit of help.

SMP pitting with 50 minutes to go. Not sure that'll make it to the end. Wet will help but that's longer than a dry stint.
