According to http://www.touringcartimes.com/article.php?id=7239 Robert Wickens and Roberto Merhi will most likely get the final Mercedes seats.
I sort of lost track which Mercedes drivers have already been confirmed. Will this be the driver lineup?

I think the only two Mercedes drivers confirmed so far are Paffet and Schumacher (they were the only ones listed on the DTM website). Coulthard has got his face on the publicity shots for the Brands meeting so I assume he'll be there, Wolff (Stoddart) is married to the establishment so she'll be there, Green has delivered consistently so there's no reason not to keep him so that leaves a few spaces up for grabs - Vietoris, Wickens and Merhi?

We can add Coulthard to the list of officially confirmed Mercedes drivers. See http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/97722
I agree that Wolff is certainty because Audi has retained Frey. So the big question is whether Green will get another opportunity after any disappointing years. I think that he will, because together with Paffett he is Mercedes' most experienced DTM driver. |

For me Green has never made the same impression as his Mercedes team mates Paffett, Di Resta and Sprengler.
Green has been in DTM for 7 years, but he was never in real contention for the championship. In 2007 and 2008 he got 4th, but then he got dropped from the HWA team. |

Looking at the Mercedes lineup Green would be one of their strongest drivers - Paffet I'd say is better but the rest? Schumacher, Coulthard, Wolff - none of them are going to be contenders for the championship (or even race wins you'd have to say).

Never know, maybe this year is his year? Hopefully the new car's suit him better and he can prove himself. Also, when is the A5 DTM being shown?

Half a year ago? "Audi Presents the New A5 DTM" dates from September 12, 2011.

I still think that Oliver Jarvis had a great exchange - almost 2 world championships instead of 1 national series. And I'm sure he has lots of chances to prove that in normal conditions he's a top contender. I think in a new DTM all teams work on one single pilot and drivers let him pass because "he fights for championship and needs points badly". And even that message "Go for the win, Jamie" at Norisring, when Bruno Spengler was second can be read in different ways.

Another BMW livery was presented in Estoril:
http://liquidimages.com.pt/foto.php?ft=66014 I guess that a certain driver from the island of Guernsey will drive this BMW. |

Tambay confirmed for the 8th Audi: http://www.motorsport-total.com/dtm/..._12031403.html
And another DTM seat that doesn't go to a German talent. It's sad... |

Is there any shortage of German talent coming through the system? For quite a number of years though the DTM has had relatively few Germans in it, there have been more Brits than Germans recently IIRC. |

they can be summed up by the phrase "bless him, he means well"... he did ok in autogp last year, disrupted slightly by a seperation of toys from pram midseason for some reason or another. but he's never raised any eyebrows in terms of performance.

How could they take him instead of Rast?! It's unbelievable.

That's my biggest problem. Apparantly Audi and Mercedes only want to elevate rookies from single-seater series (With Rockenfeller being the exception) into DTM, which is just bull****. I really hope that Rast (along with other Germans like Mies, Ludwig or Klingmann) will compete in DTM one day. I mean, even the people in charge should remember what the "D" stands for, right?
